Picked up one of these today in Penneys in Galway, reduced from 13 euro, marked at 6, but scanning at 3!
Have mine hooked up to my dock for my xperia play and stuck to my wardrobe, and I'm blown away by the sound, definitely gonna pick up a few more!

The one in this video is the exact same, just a different brand.

That is seriously cool, really want one now!
What section in Penney's should I be looking? They don't really have electronics usually, do they?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,399 ✭✭✭baldshin

They had them in the mens section in both Penneys here, in a black box that kind of looks like a Marshall amplifier.

That's brilliant - such a simple idea - I'll have a look for one down here tomorrow

Reminds me of a guy I was friends with who had a bass but no amp
so I showed him that by putting the bass against a staircase or for him the door frame it would amplify the sound to a decent level

Those Marshall micro half-stacks a bit gimmicky - look nice though.

I think our list price back in 2005 in a place I worked was at least €30 and they flew out even at that price

Seen loads out in Blanchardstown last week in the mens section upstairs. I was tempted to buy one for €6, but I bought the x mini the week before.

Also picked this for the same price €3, down from €8. Nice little speaker, has a built in re-chargeable battery as well. Charge from USB. Cable included.

I was just testing the eggblaster speaker and it's really loud for its size. Perfect for my laptop :)

Yes, got them in Dublin city centre. I saw at least 10 of the OP ones and 15 of the eggblaster ones. There may be more back store. They were beside each other near the till.

If you cant find them then I have few spares ;)

They have both of these in Penneys in Athlone if anybody is interested. At the entrance to the checkouts on the ground floor.

Looking forward to testing them both.

Wonder how they would work in tiles. If it was decent it would be ideal for the bathroom.

Good few of these in Pennys Wilton if anyone is looking.

I picked up 2 in Tralee Penney's a couple of hours ago. They only had the square one's left. There is about 10-12 left. They are marked down now at €3 from €6 and €13.

They are in the lingerie section of all places!!! I was only in there for the speakers.....along with some Priests I bumped into.....I swear......I could not find them in Menswear so I went to the Customer Services Desk. They knew exactly what I was talking about so they are popular and have been flying out the door. They phoned down to the cash desk on the floor below who checked and said there were a few left. They are in the lingerie section next to the cash desk on the 1st floor if anyone is going to venture down. I doubt if the remaining 10 or so will last long.

Decent numbers of both in Mary st. And losts of the eggs have fallen down the back of the shelf ,so check the back of the lower shelves for more.

These do work very well when stuck to empty cardboard boxes! They do start to get distorted when my ipod is up full but sound quite good just below max volume.

Yep they have loads, bought 2 eggs and a Vibration speaker tonight about 7:30. If you stand looking directly at the tills on the side of the shop you enter from the pos toffice they are a few meters to the right of them on a stand with farting key rings and star wars toys.

Bought a few at Blanchardstown. Here's that was left around 5:30 PM

    IMG_20111230_174009.jpg

My phone's camera is pretty poor. A lot of vibration speakers left. Not too many of the egg speakers, I'm afraid.

Traffic was shocking when I arrived at Blanch.

Penneys in Mary Street, still a few of both left. They're on a shelf at the Health and Beauty section just at the side of the till area

A few vibration and plenty of eggs in Penneys , Patrick St, Cork - upstairs at the checkouts at the back.

Just tried the egg blaster, decent sound for something so small. I haven't tried the vibration speaker yet, though I imagine the egg blaster will be more useful because of the internal rechargeable battery.

I got one of those eggblaster things in Blanch yesterday but the ones that were left had no box or cables with them. Is there two different cables to charge and input audio with or is it the same USB cable that does both?? I can charge it but I can't hear it :)

It's the same USB cable that does both. On the one end is the micro USB point and on the other there's 2 wires, one goes to standard USB for charging and the other goes to headphone or speaker out socket.

I don't have that bit :( Into the bin with it so I suppose.

Couple of questions about the egg blaster. How do you know when it's fully charged? Is there some way to turn the lights out on it? They get a bit annoying after a bit!

Mine was still flashing even though i left it charging all night. If you don't like the lights just close it. The sound is still the same.

Got the vibration one today in Eyre Square Penneys in Galway for €1 :D

But there didn't seem to be much left though, There was a few opened boxes and there only seemed to be one box left that was intact.

I'd imagine there should be slightly more bass sound when the egg is open. As you suggest, I don't think the flashing changes when the unit is charged. The documentation is somewhat misleading on that point.
