Quite pleased they added the rings but looks like they are now adding a new section with area for plyometrics - hurdle jumps and box jumps and what looks like a TRX station

The staff are being trained on jan 12 but the area will be open before then if everything goes to plan! We're also making a new spin room for our 60 new bikes, a functional training area (Trx etc) an extension to the weights floor, new ladies only gym, mind body studio and new cardio equipment. Everything should be done by the end of jan. hope ya like it !

Great development and a whole range of kettlebells also i hope.

This is a massive step forwards for westwood IMO though i dont agree with a ladies only area at all - think its bad for women and makes the free weights area upstairs a ego/testo filled man area.

There certainly seems to be huge investments at West Wood recently. The boxing looks amazing.

I agree with the above, i think its kind of unfair that the women get to have our own "ladies only" section. and it's by no means small. so the lads are being done out of a lot of extra space to work out in. plus as you rightly said the rest of the floor area is now pretty much "men only" as you can see it coming ego/testo, and most of the women training in the Ladies only area. In fact we have to train in there as there is no where else to go. I would understand a small area for ladies only but its massive and they have pretty much segregated the men from the women.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Its not about segregating men and women and i agree with Transform that in an ideal world, we wouldnt seperate men & women. However, when we started a small ladies only area (from repeated requests from nervous women) it was a huge success. We therefore decided to make it bigger. I am in the gym 50+ timers per day and there are still plenty of women working out in the main free weights area. The ladies area is an ideal stepping stone for women who can gain confidence getting used to their programmes.

The space we used for the ladies gym has been replaced wiht the cable area above the new Box Fit studio which is actually a bigger floor area than the old cable area.
Lastly - we are hoping to do a major change in the weights area which will drastically improve it. I am waiting for an engineers report as the current free weight floor is concrete and the area we want to move the FW area to is a wooded floor. If he gives us the go ahead, it will be epic! We have to work within the confines of our existing building though.

If you want to chat further about any of this, contact me via reception or by PM and i'll be happy to meet with you.

    Dave

I do agree with having a "ladies only" section but smaller. its massive. just saw a 7 page thread in after hours on the same subject.

have to say i don't mind the ladies section - and yeah - theres a lot of change going on down there at the minute which is a good thing. - but where are all the benches?! the free weights are all there, but theres only what 6 benches in the entire place, while there's four rooms of machines
i really think you should consider getting rid of some of the machines and putting in some extra benches - it shouldn't be a massive investment compared to everything else going on but would make a massive difference

The ladies area is pretty good but I still workout in the main weights area. I would really love to see those pink machines removed (does anyone even use them?) and some benches put in there.. and maybe even a squat rack :)

Lots of our older ladies use them in the mornings. As for squat rack, we've no plans to put one in. The idea of a ladies area is to cater for shy, nervous and beginner ladies. If you're using a squat rack you're probably not in that category!

We will get more if our plans can be done (as per my earlier post)
