any comments on my diet??

    Hi guys,

    I'm trying to go from 205lbs to 170lbs, as quick as I can.
    Just wondering if anyone could give me some of their opinions on my diet.
    Is it right for losing this amount of weight

    Morning:
    - Porridge with Seeds + banana
    - Protein Shake
    - Wheat bread with peanutbutter
    - 1 litre of water

    11am:
    - Banana
    - Plus a possible 2 plums or an apple

    1pm:
    A sandwich on brown bread with plain chicken, relish, small bit of grated cheese, and mixed salad on top

    3pm
    Protein Shake

    5pm
    Kidney beans, chickpeas, salad

    9pm
    Post-workout - Whey protein, 2 jaffa cakes, banana and 2 weetabix

    It depends on the individual. Are you male or female? What height are you? Do you have any problems digesting wheat? Dairy? Also are you doing any exercise?

    How is it working out for you right now? Are you hungry all the time? Are the numbers on the scales going down? If not then you will need to do more tweaking...

    Sorry just saw your other post there now where you stated that your goal was to eat take a 'classic high protein, low carb approach'

    Morning:

    Anything I've highlighted in bold is a carb and just from a quick glance of your diet there I would say it is definitely not low carb. Don't know how much protein but would guess not a huge amount (~100g?). Also what's the story with all the protein shakes? Why not just get your protein from real food?

    186cm

    I used to be around 170lbs 4years ago, but since then I've stopped playing gaelic football and started doing lots of weights and have risen to 205lbs.

    I would do 5 workout sessions a week, 3-4 weights and 1 or 2 cardio.
    I feel two Weetabix at around 9:30pm is really killing me. I can't resist carbs at night as it makes me sleep better.

    Would a drop in carbs cause tiredness in anyone?

    question, protein shake 3 times a day, is this training days or in general. Is is whey protein.How long are you training 5 days

    Is it more than a case of just 'getting the protein in' by any means?

    Hey, for me it comes down to volume, we are all different but some calculation on your calorie intake, daily requirement for your size and build and amount required for exercise and anything above that amount is going to cause you issues getting to your core weight. Depending on shake it could be 200-300 calories a serving.

    Sure, you can just the get protein in by any means. However I find that I stay fuller for longer if I get all my protein from real food rather than in liquid form. Maybe if you ate more meat, fish or eggs with your chickpeas, beans and salad at dinner you mightn't need to eat the weetabix at 9pm?

    Also from a health pov it's not just a case of 'getting the protein in', there are other compounds, vitamins and minerals which you get from eating a diversity of food which doesn't happen if you are pounding in the protein shakes:)
