so i'm reading a thread on another forum where they are banging on about losing weight. And one guy says to eat what you like during the day but after 6pm eat nothing before bedtime. So anyways i started yesterday and drank tea after six but was feckin starvin though my willpower won out. Now it's flippin day 2 and at 7pm my churning stomach caused me to drive to Tescos. Went in and picked up a bottle of vino and stared at it, but decided it wasn't worth getting groggy cuz i could end up ordering takeaway in my stupor. So i went to the juices section and was ready to spend five yo-yos on a carton of smoothie but figured my sugar levels would go through the roof as i always end up drinkin the whole frickin carton so i left it back. Then i sauntered around the confectionary section picking up as i waltzed along a box of Roses and thought about pigging out while watching Rocky II on ITV4+1 but decided against. And i was even gonna break the fast by gorging on Planters Dry Roasted Peanuts but then i'd have lost the battle. So here i am now drinkin herbal tea as Rocky is about to start.

Porridge.. it is so satisfying, warming and filling, low in fat and not too much carbs to make a difference. There are so many ways of spicing it up with raiins, cinnamon, jam, dried fruit, almonds, honey, frozen berries, the list is endless.. when i have a sweet tooth, i have an options hot choc, less than 50 calories and they are delicious! or a slice of wholegrain toast and tea? if you completely abstain you are more likely to binge.. whereas if you satisfy your hunger a little bit you wont.. or scrambled eggs? very filling too.

Also when are you having dinner? if you are ravonous by 7pm, maybe you are not eating enough veg or protein with your dinner?

thank you for these wonderful suggestions. as it happens i do have porridge so will buy honey and dried fruits tomorrow to have on standby. And will remember to add eggs to my shopping list as well. Really want to sustain this so thanks again.

I woke up late today at midday and had a bowl of porridge. Then at 4pm ate a bowl of chowder with three slices of brown bread followed by pudding and custard. One hour afterwards i drank two lattes and ate a slice of carrot cake. Not very nutricious i know

And if you find regular oats hard to stomach.. I use the quick oats (flahavans) and they are really creamy when used with 3/4 water 1/4 milk, and you know exactly how much is in a 30g with the individual sachets or if you get the scoopy one. best of luck, and enjoy rocky, you are doing great, the hardest part is walking away!i was in tesco earlier too and the only way i can cope is avoiding it late at night when it just taunts me, espec all the special offers!:p beans on toast is quick and nutritious also.. dont deprieve yourself of your third meal if its nutritious. i only started to lose weight when i ate the right and more amounts of healthy food.

    Good luck:)

You are so hungry because you are not eating much protein! if you are overindulging on the wrong foods, try overindulging on the healthy foods and see how you get on :) change your mindset, there is alot of food that is great for your body and your tastebuds :) dont buy the stuff so when you hit your cuboards late at night, you only have healthy options!:)

Why did you listen to the 6 hour guy? He's talking about as much sense as a bag of frogs.

A diet needs to be something you can do long term. Can you see yourself watching rocky with herbal tea for life and feeling hungry all the time after 6?

no obviously not you'll eventually just realise its not worth it and revert to what's made you overweight.

Listen to the guys arguing with 6 hour guy

nothing wrong with not eating after 6, it might work better for you if you have three or four healthy meals - porridge for breakfast, salad and fish / meat for lunch and potato / veg / meat for dinner, adjust your calories for lifestyle and level of activity. TBH, your current diet looks pretty bad, bound to cause major sugar cravings.. oh and keep away from tesco unless you go earlier in the day just after dinner.

the only benefit to the nothing after 6pm thing is to stop grazing all evening
it obviously is not going to work if you are not eating properly in the first place and end up starving
just eat properly and don't snack on roses or biscuits
    eat more protein

i concur. my diet is pretty poor. Meant to go shopping today for dried fruits, honey and eggs but went xmas shopping instead which took up the whole day and i didn't manage to sort it either... hopefully 2moro;-)
Didn't have breakfast because i work up late again at 1pm. Drove into town and pulled in at a deli for a brown roll with cornation chicken, lettuce and french beans/almonds and a black coffee to go. Then at 5pm i got wrecked from trying on clothes so sat down in Eddie Rockets where i ordered a fish burger and milk shake. Finally stopped for petrol on the way home and bought a 600ml bottle of club orange at 6pm.
Sipping nettle tea now at the minute. Part of me is afraid that my body is totally messed up cuz this is the kind of diet i've had for the past decade... loaded with sugar, some junk food, some eat fruit/salad too, some protein

eat little and often, starving yourself is estupido, your body will hold onto any fat you have then.

what i do is lamp a load into me at breakfast regardless of hunger. and then eat every 3 hours if possible, and only eat until i'm full. sometimes dinner gets used as breakfast the next day (brown rice and chicken sort of thing) but without over-eating you don't get particualrly hungry and your body gets used to filling up on the smaller portions. and drink loads of water. success
