Sorry lads not really sure what the best way to go about this is as i'm a noob when it comes to it all.

Basically I want to build muscle using just basic dumbells and a bar, but also develop my abs as well, the thing is I have a bit of belly fat now it's not much but would still like to lose it.

Can you lose belly fat and gain muscle at the same time?
Not really on much of a diet just eating whatever I want whenever I want which really has to change especially as it is coming up to Christmas.

Can anyone recommend any good exercises to build muscle with just the dumbells and bar, and also any methods to develop my abs?

Sorry if this post makes absolutely no sense but I'm a total noob.

    Thanks in advance :).

Actually, the most effective and basic exercises done are based on only barbells/dumbbells. Squats, deadlifts, bench press, rows, military press are together with chins and dips the most fundamental exercises in weight lifting, and these utilize only barbells/dumbbells (chins/dips being the exception, those are body weight exercises). You can gain muscle and lose body fat/get abs at the same time. It's perfectly possible. To do this you need to follow a solid strength training program and eat a calorie surplus with lots of protein, decently with carbs, and low fat, on the days you train with weights. The other days you should create a calorie deficit. Focus on LEAN protein, lots of veggies and green tea during these days. Cut down carbs to a minimum. There is a lot to learn, but these are the basics.

Thanks appreciate it, Gonna start off with the bench press, squats and deadlifts first, and then put the others into my routine, you wouldn't happen to know any free routines on the internet would you?

I personally would plan ahead with your diet. Limiting fats and carnal is awesome, however if you drastically eliminate them you will end up using protein as a fuel source. If you can stomach it eat fish.
Another rule of thumb is to do cardiovascular after resistance training. You'll have more energy and will better increase your endurance.
Instead of hitting the bar and weights, see what your limitations are with relative body weight exercises (push ups, squats, lunges, etc).
Also if its been a while between workouts look into isometric exercises to strengthen the joint muscle and really nail down your form.

If you are a total noob then my question would be have you tried doing press ups (chest touches floor on every rep!!), chin ups, body weight squats, lunges, plank position, overhead press etc

Post up current diet and training in detail, height, weight and age also

Well I know know how to do them as i'm currently studying Sports Coaching in college which basically we have to learn them then teach them to somebody else so i'm ok in that aspects of it but basically don't know what routine I should be doing to gain a certain amount of size if ye get me? Haha.

Diet is basically eat anything and everything and without a breakfast too which I know is the most important meal of the day so that's going to have to change, basically chips pizza's steaks chicken dippers :pac: I know it's all absolute crap! :pac:

Not really sure on what to eat as a diet but will look into it, but not sure what to eat for the meals a day or how much of it I should be eating? :pac:

No training plan set as of yet.

Height is 5'6 and weight is 9 and a half stone. Age 18.
    Thanks for the replies.
