Juicing V Blending

I recently aquired the loan of a Juicer and plan to give it a spin tonight.

Anyone know the nutritional benefits of a juicer V blending? (I'm just going to be juicing veg - avocado, mushrooms, leeks, celery, cabbage, brocolli).

Would I be losing out on much of the nutrition?

    Cheers!

    DO NOT juice avocado, bleeeugh.:D

Basically your losing out on fibre and the chewing that will prepare your stomach for digestion.

Juicing is a pain in the ass. All that preparation and the cleaning afterwards, trust me, you'll get tired of it quickly. You'd be better of making soups and salads to be honest.

Juice is nice occasionally though in my opinion it's not that nice unless you have lots of carrot and apple in it, which gives it a lot of sugar and fructose

Basically the main difference as said before between juicing and blending is the removing of the fibre from the fruit and veg when juicing.

This removing of fibre lightens the load on ur digestive sytem and basically allows the vitamins minerals and enzymes to enter the blood stream faster. This makes drinking juices feel more energising. Also the lack of fibre in juicing makes them very light on the stomach and allows you to eat food with them. As aposed to smoothies that tend to be very filling, which is also a good thing, especially mixed whith some protien, hemp, flax or other powders. This makes for a power packed natural suplement.

A good ratio for mixing juice is 3:1, three veg to one fruit. The best I find that works is half cucumber two sticks of celery and an apple, really beneficial for the body.

As for the messiness of juicing it can be annoying having to clean the machine but the good out ways the bad when you start drinking a juice a day and feel the benefits to your health and immune sytem especially in the winter months.

    Cheers
