Is this a good detox?

I am feeling quite bloated of late - too many work events etc. I feel strongly in need of a boost to get back on track and was thinking of this:

    Breakfast: Fruit

    Lunch: Fruit

Dinner: Big salad/loads of veg with either meat or fish and an oily dressing.

    Snacks: Herbal tea/water.

I feel if I did this for a few days it'd sort my stomach right out. Is there any reason for not doing this?

Varied diet, this stuff and a bit of water.

Dont think you're consuming enough calories in my opinion.

I know it's low in calories but it would only be for a few days. Its like fasting I suppose.

If I was looking to "detox", I'd drink plenty of water first and foremost. I'd go easy on the fruit and include protein and fat in every meal.

You could buy digestive enzymes. They usually help relieve any bloat

Well its not going to do you any harm in the short term but detox diets are essentially a scam. Like all other mammals you have a liver and kidneys for getting rid of toxins.

If you eat that you'll probably feel somewhat good because you're not eating bread or other stuff that might mildly disagree with you. You'll lose a few pounds. though you will be quite hungry until you get to your meat meal.

Once you go back to normal food you'll be back in the same boat. This diet won't have "cleaned" you or anything.

So if you want the good stuff but not the hunger just have two of the meat/salad/fat meals a day + the fruit.(or veg)

I find going on several long fast walks (at least 5 miles each) helps..

I totally agree most detoxes are scams, I knew a girl doing some kind of 'liver cleanse' that she drank that stuff and you poop big blobs of green stuff!! I researched the stuff and it causes the green poop, not something you are actually ridding your body of. She paid a 'clinic' over a thousand euro for the pleasure too!

I do think that some judicious fasting can help kickstart a sluggish digestion though, though food wise I'd be more inclined to focus on easy-to-digest starch like rice, home made chicken stock and slow cooked mushy veggies. I'd go relatively low on protein, fat and fiber just for half a week.

Big plus one for the Digestive enzymes with Hydrochloric acid. Failing that, lots of lemon juice or 2 tbsp ACV in a glass of water.

Is there actually data to support hydrochlroic acid and digestive enzymes?

I always thought they were a bit of scam but there seems to be some credence around them now?

Nope, none at all, except in people with diagnosed hypochloridia. Just one from the personal experience files. :o

Hence the caveat, they may not work at all.
