Are there any countries with a weaker military capacity than ours we'd capable of defeating in a proper war?

We'd be over in Isle of Man and have the flag up before they were up out of bed.

    Andorra.

Then there are a good few without army's at all.

Costa Rica, Grenada, Kiribati, Liechtenstein to name a few.

mmm - Methinks there will be Irish on both sides of that conflict.
On topic, it depends if it was just the current professional Irish forces or else would it be a total war with the full resources of the State behind the conflict.

Iceland? Just ask the RN about that and the time they went to play with the Icelandic CG in the 70s.

Personally, I'd never completely trust a wiki article! But it just came up on a quick google search so I posted it :)

One where the local branch of Argos isn't seen as a legitimate target I guess.

This coming from a man whose Country murdered and raped Iraqi schoolboys, before retreating in strategical failure?

Liechtenstein drew with us in soccer once, but they'd be a pushover for our military forces (if we could charter enough planes to get them there).;););)

Doubt it, we would have to invade Italy first to get to the Vatican, :D

There is a big difference between attacking and defending a country. Iceland wouldn't have the manpower to invade us but I wouldn't like to be fighting a War in the Icelandic countryside. I would say we could role over most of the small scenic Carribean Islands such as Aruba, St Lucia and Barbados if we had to invade anywhere.

    The Vatican?

No, the British military, which sexually abused Iraqi's and props up an Afghan Police force rank with paedophiles.

Fantasia. How much longer must we put up with their crappy small unit attacks?

It's high time we dealt decisively with the Kiribati menace and secured our borders once and for all.... though we'd have to really tough it out to get past their navy.

Andorra would be a particularly tough nut to crack considering its bordered by spain and france but has stayed independent. If they took the roads 'in' we wouldnt have a hope!

None. Sure by the time the dail finishes debating the war and the looney left demand the irish army dont use offensive weapons , it ll be time to debate the triple lock.

The army will probably get the ok to start fighting about the same time as they provide a goh for our new overlords

Not sure about that, they have a couple of M1 Abrams and attack helicopters. The Irish would never get off the beach.

Prosecuting a war requires troops, weapons and logistics.
We probably have enough men to take Tristan Da Cunha, but how would we get them there.

Ryanair ll drop us off about 50 miles from where we want to be, thats if the df can afford sll the extra charges ryanair will stick on the ticket.

I reckon we shoot let leitrim declare independence and we can go in an conqueor it

Poland, seeing as half of them are over here now, with a bout of conscription they would have to fight for Ireland. France, the bunch of wine drinking surrender monkeys.

Between them and our age old enemy those pesky wicklonian freedom fighters we really should do away with them. It seems that every year they take flagstaff hill and every year we drive them off. Lets do it once and for all.

Actually....thinking of the air armada that sits at Dublin Airport every night when the flights are finished, if we got cooperation from (or put guns to the heads of) the Aer Lingus & ryanair staff, we'd have a huge airlift capability.

Ryanair has 275 737s with a seating capacity of 189 each, thats 51975 seats
And Aer Lingus has around 8600 seats
Kill O'Leary and take his planes, and his 29% in Aer Lingus, the government owns 25% and BAM we own Ryanair and Aer Lingus have the capability to transport almost 60,000 soldiers:D..even we only have a sixth of that
    Stats are from wikipedia btw:o

P.S.This is a Walter Mitty comment

    You know what?

I cant wait until its my turn to give orders. No wicklonian freedom fighters, nay, it shall be something more realistic like,

The 5th Heavy Tallaghtban Infantry- muslim converts from tallagth

    or maybe

Number 21 Mounted Chinese Takeaway Overlords (with fried rice, delivery by horseback 2 euro)

    or even

15th Welsh Independent Seaborne Raider Division - here to claim Dublin as New Cardiff and force all the Irish to eat leak instead of cabbage.

FFS though seriously, can they not come up with something more creative!? who says ya cant transport us (via the imaginary fleet of C17 Globemasters out of anneyshrule) to afghanistan or EVEN Bosnia or Lebannon or somewhere more realistic!!!

Oh, there you are. Right on time to ignore the English troll who instigated. They should avoid allocating moderators who abuse their privelages and threaten people they have difficulty debating.

Perhaps. Take it up with the site admins.

In the meantime, this allocated moderator is not going to threaten you. He is stating for a fact that you are going to serve a two-week ban.

    NTM
