Shoulder trouble.....replacement exercises please

Just looking for some recommendations, situation as follows:

Training without problems for couple of years, but 3 months ago I "pulled" something in right hand shoulder.
Pain would be only felt when lifting overhead, or bench press.
Feels like (technical bit follows) outer muscle on front of shoulder "ball" bit.

Anyway, rested for 6 weeks, shoulder pain was nearly gone, did a few light sessions and then went back training.

First set of bench presses and the pain is back.
Reckon I need to rest for longer.

Oddly enough, dips didnt present any trouble at all.

So, while I let the shoulder heal (properly this time), what can I do to exercise the area without hitting that muscle group "directly".

Dips, curls, pullups, core work springs to mind (all part of my usual routine), but maybe an opportunity to try something new?

Also, how long should I be leaving the shoulder alone, and should I be doing anything at all up top while awaiting healing?

    Cheers for replies....

Any number of things could be wrong. "pulled" and "something" doesn't sound like a professional diagnosis. Spend €50 on a good physio and get a proper plan to proceed.

This is your answer, anything else is a guess. Possibly a dangerous guess, thread locked
