3 times attempted, 1st completed, 2nd failed, 3rd completed actually on schedule!

Nice going. I'll finish that challenge myself yet. Not till after Charleville though. :)

I kept putting it off until the first of the month as its easier to track it, then at the start of the month I'd forget all about it. So with the hip issues at the minute i thought perfect timing... unfortunately I'm a little behind now!!:o

Great session there Anne, you're brilliant the way you fit everything in!

I try but its not always possible. finding the darker evening now a complete mess for fitting things in and the 3 kids have the back to school bugs already. . . .and my childcare has fallen through. . . so things might look a little different around here over the next few weeks as I try to fit it in!!! To start with I missed Sundays run!!!

But you do Yoga and that's just as good. You see I like to be told exactly what to do so i find it great to be told the exercise and number of reps....Just like coach tells me my paces to run at etc so i don't have to work them out!!!

I think as well as Diego, there are a few who have completed it....I remember reading it in logs just can't remember which ones!!! #memoryissues!!!

    Friday 8th September - 5m easy
Got out for yesterdays missed run. Went the same route as Tuesday as my usual route is just too slippy and mucky from the tractors.... #messyfarmers;)

8 years ago at an Aunts funeral, one of my cousins declared that she didn't just want to meet at funeral so arranged a get together in her house for the female 1st cousins(my mams side).

On Saturday it was out 5th reunion and It was being held in my house. Out of the 16 cousins living in Ireland, there was 15 of us in attendance, with Special guest appearance of Mam!! Our American side are missing and our English cousin passed away a few years ago. We have had numerous funerals & parties over the years but this Reunion is special to us know as we are getting older witht he younger being 44 and the oldest 57. We sit and chat, eat & drink buckets of tea, a few drinks for some and them a bit of dancing and playing tinwhistle ...my children have seen a new form of crazy!!!:eek:

So I got out for the run after some last minute preps and before my guests arrived!! The rain came but it was lovely and cooling. The wind was fairly strong and the second set was into to it on the way back so pace was a little all over the place. Hit my 1000th mile for the year during this..

    !
Between the kids being very tired & the eldest one now sick, trying to re-organise and tidy the house again and just pure tiredness after a very late night, i didn't get out for the run. I can't cope with so little sleep so I kept putting the run off and then had a snooze, put on the heating and when OH got home from work, it was just too late to go running and i had no inclination while listening to the wind & the rain, so left it.:o
I was going to run today Monday but not feeling 100% after a very bad nights sleep #overtired&old!!!:o:o

    Week 11 - 17th September

    Monday 11th - rest
My hip & leg was giving me a lot of trouble on Sunday & Monday and I didn't sleep great as it feels like something is creeping up and down in my leg/veins....had that before last year and I took a week off running and it settled but I'm not taking a week off at this stage......it keeps me awake but doesn't cause any other issues at the moment!!!

The hips thankfully eased after doing my missed exercises twice on Monday....I was beginning to think that the single leg straight leg deadlift was causing the issue as I could feel the hip literally creaking as I was doing it:eek:, but actually it eased it out this time and has been much better since!!!

    Tuesday 12th - 5m Easy
I'm doing the early shift in work at the moment and considering I'm not an early bird this has been some shock to the system, so my lunch run was started before 11am!!
I was tired heading out but knew that it would not get done later as id be wrecked, and I was so delighted to have it finished as I sat looking out at the torrential rain last night. I love running in the rain but not when wrecked!!!
A Lovely trot around the Phoenix Park and I felt great while doing it. The GPS was all over the place and when I got to the 1mile marker it was only showing .89 on the watch so I lapped it and on I went. GPs kicked in just after 3 miles!!
Anyway it was a little on the fast side for an easy run but I suppose 2 days rest will have you chomping at the Bit!!!

    9.33, 9.27, 9.11, 9.12, 9.15

    Wednesday 13th - session
    WU, 5 x 1 mile @ 8.00 of 2.30, 2.00, 1.30, 1.00 recoveries, cd

A little later heading out today but the sun was shining so was hapy to head out. The wind was very strong in places and after the warm up mile, the first mile @ pace felt quite tough, same as last week but then I had to battle the strong crosswind on the North road... the rest came in a little easier and the ones down Chesterfield ave felt like I was jogging!!!
Walked the start of each recovery and jogged the rest

Happy out and another great session completed!!

    Week 11th - 17th September... continued

    Thursday 14th - Rest day

Didn't get a minute to run today so swapped Fridays rest day. Gave up on the 30 days Challenge too. I don't like stage 3 and I'm having difficulty doing the exercises. My feet crap and these exercise were not helping. Going to start back and repeat week 1 & 2 from Monday...

    Friday 15th - Easy run
Easy run around the park at lunch time . Had to stop twice in mile 4 due to a weird pain on the outside of my left foot that had me unable to put full weight on it and then it just disappeared... Legs felt a little tired at times and i was hitting the ground as i wasn't lifting the feet enough!!

Had everything weather wise in this run, I found it cool enough starting off and was wishing I had long sleeves, the sun came out and then the cross winds on the North road kicked it. I could feel the heat as i got nearer to Chesterfield ave and it felt almost muggy...then the rain came to cool me down during mile 4 and at the end of mile 5...

Tied up during the morning with younglads Soccer in Dundalk and followed up with an appointment for the youngest in Warrenpoint. By the time i got home the cold from the mornings sideline standing has settled into my bones and i wasn't feeling very well. Went for a short nap to see if i could get some heat into my bones but no not happening. I lit the fire and had dinner and settled down for the evening.

By 7.30pm I was feeling a bit better and decided to head to Ardee to get the session done. I had a longsleeved top on and hi-vis vest over it but I was shaking with the cold for the first half mile . Then all settled down. Really enjoyed this session but didn't enjoy the dark paths in places and having to maneuver around people at times but overall great workout. Found a great 1km stretch that was well lit and did out & back to get the last 4 reps done after the first one came in slight over target with crossing roads etc!!!

    Sunday 17th - Easy run
After watching the All Ireland, (Mayo were definitely the better team in the first half but failed to make hay..... well done Dublin) I headed out just before 6 on the back roads. Ran as far as Nobber, for first 5m and then turned and headed back adding another stretch on the back rosds.

With 2miles to go I decided to make this a half marathon and see where my pacing is for the Half next weekend. My legs were failry dead for the hills in the last mile but overall it was grand. A few slower miles in the first few miles will sort out the pacing and if I had though of it in time, Id have been a lot more controlled to get it nearer 2.10 with even splits.

I had to stand in 3 times on the last 1.5m as it was getting dark and i didn't have my hi vis on:eek: I had a long sleeved tshirt on and was glad of it as it was cool enough out there. Had no water or gels/shotbloks with me but will take something next week, just to keep thing moving swiftly.

    Week 18th - 24th September

    Monday 18th - rest

    Tuesday 19th - Easy run
Didn't get a minute all day to run and it was 7.20 before i got home, changed and straight out the door. Knew 8ish was the cut off so headed for 3m easy.
Very creaky start this off but soon loosened out... I got to the 1.5m turn around point and it was still a bit bright and the road was quite & i had the high vis on so kept going, met a car but there was a grass verge for me to stand in on...

Turned at 2.2m and headed back for home and I suddenly realised it was very dark.. Put the torch on my phone on to light the road. Was afraid of meeting something on the totally black, covered in hill, like i did on Sunday evening, but luckily got down it without meeting anyone. There is no where to stand in and the verge is all leaves & sludge about 2 foot high!!!
.2 of a mile from home and i doubled back to get the half mile in needed to get the full 5 miles.
A car came behind me but again it was where there was a grass verge and i just stood in and waited for it to go by. Got home & hubby was standing out thinking about coming to check if i was ok...proves he never listens as I told him i had my phone with torch if i went further than the 3m!!!

Another busy day and i didn't manged to get out for run. Youngest was sick and didnt want to stay with her sister so i was sitting in my running clothes waiting for hubby to get home..at 6.45 i gave up the ghost & ate my dinner and he arrived home after 7, but i didn't want a repeat of Sunday and had a session to do so rest day ensued!!!

Headed off down the main road for this as at home today and if i leave until later God only knows what will happen!!!
No issues on this run, except the usual going too fast and trying to get a feel for the pace. the 3 x 600 were all too fast!!!
    I walked the first 30 sec of recovery 1 & 2, walked 40 sec of recovery 3 & 4 walked 50 sec of rec 5 and full 1min off rec 6......

Saturday 23rd Sept - Dublin Half Marathon 2.10 Pacer

This was my first official pacing gig and practice for DCM so although I was looking forward to it, I was also a bit apprehensive too.

My chauffeur arrived at 6.40am, then we collected 2 others and away to Donabate. We had to queue to get into the carpark but we were parked up by 7.45 and we noted that it would be fun trying to get out of here!!!

We sat around in the car for a bit and then I made my way to the information tent to get organised. Well we all know what happened after that..... Pacers stuck in the traffic, but we the start delayed by 30 minutes we managed to have pacer(s) for every pace group.

I was pacing with Tony and he gave me some great advice before the start. The start was very chaotic with stewards giving different directions but eventually we got sorted . Tony gave all the information to the group about our plan of action and with a cheer we crossed the start line at 10.201with a big group in tow.

Tony took the lead and I dropped back and just kept my pace, chatting to anyone that wanted to engage and shouting information along the way. The support along the route from the locals was fantastic. We approached the hills at even effort but assuring those that were struggling a bit that they would catch us on the down hill.

A few were dropping back from the hills but plenty were keeping with us. It was very disappointing and annoying when the water station didn’t materialise. I passed around a bottle of water I had and made sure anyone that needed some got some but I’m sure there were plenty more who needed some. Every few miles I’d catch up with Tony and we’d confirm out times & paces. I wanted to make sure I didn’t drop back too far.

Overall I really enjoyed the course (easy to say as I wasn’t racing and probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it if I was hitting those hills 2 min per mile faster!!!!)

Had to laugh when we turned at Man O War pub and the start of the downhills and before my very eyes our whole pace group started to pull away while we maintained pace....

The last few miles was all about encouraging those we were catching up with and helping those who were struggling. There were quite a few people walking in the last few miles and I'm sure the lack of water really contributed to this but we brought a few with us.

Weather-wise we were very lucky as the predicted rain from earlier in the week didn’t materialise. The wind was behind us for the first few miles, although it was very hot and I was a sweaty betty by mile 2!!! The wind was in our face for the last few miles, which I found quite refreshing but out on the dual carriageway we had to battle it fronton!!

Plenty thanked us for our pacing afterwards and it was a great feeling to know I may have helped in some small way on what turned out to be a horrible/frustrating day for a lot of people.

After the race the 4 of us who had travelled together walked to Donabate, had lunch and then walked back to find an empty car park and the walk was great to stretch out the legs (Total 2.84m) I was home around 5pm... Had a few very enjoyable bottles of beer and was in bed by 11pm wrecked after the long day.

    9.47, 9.50, 9.58, 9.48, 10.08, 9.51, 9.43, 9.42, 9.38, 9.48, 9.56, 9.52, 10.24, 8.22(.14)

    Sunday 24th – Easy run

I decided to get this done after breakfast as I was away later. Keep it very easy and although legs were feeling good, they were much better after this. 2 lovely new blisters on my toes on left foot.

This was a very easy run down the main road and back. Very muggy out and I was sweating far too much considering the pace

    10.21, 10.11, 10.09, 10.10, 10.12, 10.13, 10.37

Wanted to interrupt to say thanks for taking the time to do the pacing. I had intended to start out with the 2:10 pacers but the chaos at the start meant I ended up in front of you. My running buddy was struggling so you passed me out going up the man o war hill. I passed you out again on the way down the hill ( I was the one asking all the questions about times/paces etc. - I wanted to see how much time I had to make up to come in under 2:10). I didn't realise it was your first pacing duty - you seemed like you had been doing it for years. Thanks also for the words of encouragement - even if you are not struggling it really gives you a lift to hear you are doing well. Might see you in DCM - do you know what group you are pacing yet? :-)

Well done Anne!!! Having been on the receiving end of your (most excellent) pacing skills I knew you'd be a big success at this :). No doubt you got many over the line in their goal time that wouldn't have been able to otherwise. You'll be in big demand going forward - any chance I can book you in advance for a little race in Oct 2018 :D:D

Oh and are you doing Longwood this year? I won't be racing it obviously but might go along to jog around, it's kinda becoming a tradition now.

It's worth it for the tshirt alone, lost(well movers lost full box of my race tshirt) my 2015 & 2016 ones as a result. Great race by great people on an honest route.
