Considering we're not to far away from rumour and gossip mill that is the January transfer window may as well get this thread going to at least centralise all the rumours/transfers instead of having loads of threads popping up every day.

    Let the speculation..... COMMENCE!

Leeds won't be signing anyone as according to Peter Lorimer 'Bringing in quality players will greatly upset the players that we have here already'.

    Go figure...........

From an Arsenal POV we're in dire need of someone who can step into the centre forward role when van Persie gets injured. Chamakh or Park just aren't up to it tbh.

Another wide player would be nice to provide some real competition for Theo and Gervinho as atm they both know they are going to start every game. Especially needed as Gerv is off to the ACN in January.

    Correct.

Who in their right mind is paying £20m for Torres?

From a Liverpool POV we really need someone to play alongside Suarez.
We were linked with Valencia's Soldado a lot recently so maybe something will happen, but he could cost €30 million.

From a Man City POV, we need a world class centre back.
Lescott has been seriously sketchy the last few games, And looks like Kolo is heading to PSG and Savic needs more experience.

    Thiago Silva would do nicely.

Seems Redknapp wants Tevez,is he mental?

Krasic linked with loan move to United-just what we need,ANOTHER WINGER!!??

From a Chelsea POV, I'd like if we went back in for De Bruyne from Genk, we we're linked last summer and a deal apparently fell through.

He would be a good option to play wide and could free up Mata to play more central.

Cahill from bolton will probably get mentioned a lot and if Alex goes I'd say we'll make a move.

Anelka is going, Alex looks likely to be gone, Josh MacEchran could be sent out on loan and we have Kalou, Mikel and Drogba leaving for the ACoN.

Tevez wouldn't play for a small club like Spurs.

    He played for city.

As much as i hate to say it, if anyone can get him motivated, it's 'arry.

    PSG linked to Tevez also.

He doesn't care about being motivated or winning trophies, all he cares about is Money.

    Money that Spurs don't have...

Exactly and thats where he'll end up, they're the only club in contention to sign him that can match the wages he's already on..

but isnt Rafa rumoured to be PSG bound, i'd imagine if there was truth in the Torres price tag (personally i doubt there is too much truth with them taking a 30m loss now) then I would think Rafa might prefer to work with him again rather than Tevez and all his baggage.

Personally I wouldn't touch Tevez with a bargepole if I was managing a club,
Especially a club with big aspirations like PSG.

Tevez has been linked with them heavily for the last few weeks and as far as I know the owner of PSG is the owner of Man City's cousin.
So I think it's pretty much a done deal.

Ahh forgot about the cousin thing, yeah id say thats likely so and tbh if the torres thing has legs and he stays in England (if it does I doubt this would be the case) id love to see a revitalised Torres (I know) at Arsenal for 20m

    Torres is finished man.
It's funny people thinking Torres's poor form is down to confidence. Its obvious that since his big injury he lost alot of his explosiveness and pace. He was always a player who relied heavily on physical attributes but now he lacks them compared to what he was pre 2010. Torres is finished at the top level. He is better of going back to Athletico.
    Thats just my opinion.

At the same time, 20M in this market? Bargain.

Also lets be realistic here aswell.

Chelsea aren't just gonna write off 30m either, I don't think he's goin anywhere..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,832 ✭✭✭✭Blatter

If that story is true(big if) it wouldn't just be as simple as paying £20m for Torres, one would assume a club would have to shell out on his extortionate wages of ~£175,000/Week.

Unless he takes a fairly big pay cut, who the hell is going to pay him anywhere near that? And I can't even see him taking a massive pay cut, AFAIK he has 4 and a half years to run on his Chelsea contract.

He'll be either staying at Chelsea(likely), or going on loan/transfer where Chelsea have to pay a chunk of his wages over the next 4 and a half years.

Liverpool tenuously linked to Wolves striker Steven Fletcher overnight, no doubt until Chelsea firmly deny he's for sale (or for sale to a Prem club) Torres chat will refuse to die down.

well if they have said they want rid, you would have to think he will be sold if they can get the shillings, which in itself is debatable.
back to spain would be best for him now.

Fellaini, Tiote, Rodwell, M'Vila, Montolvio, Martinez, Banega - just some of the players United should be looking at signing in January.

Winger, Striker and a Goal Keeper - the positions United are far more likely to actually sign someone in.

Modibo Maiga has had a medical already at Newcastle according to French reports.

We were apparently looking at him in the summer but Sochaux weren't willing to sell.

His attitude is questionable but then again so was Hatem Ben Arfa's when we were in for him.

I don't know too much about him really so any Ligue 1 followers care to share some light?

Yeah, he's talented but a head case. Well suited to the EPL though with regards physicality.

United to be linked with a handful of class promising Footballers. This will be dragged out throughout January until the last day where tensions will run high. At this stage the list of players will be widdled down to one. Rumours will start engulfing SSN that day. "We have sources saying the player is boarding a plane to Manchester", "Uncomfirmed reports that he is in Manchester airport as we speak". Minutes to go. Heart racing. We can do it come on!!

Manchester United fail to sign anyone this January transfer window.

Ferguson responds the next day - "Well there were a few players we were looking at but the value was just not there. I am however confdent in the squad we hav...." Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

The sickening thing is, We could of got him on the free back when Sparky was running the show.
Instead he wanted "English players with PL experience,"
So he went for Lescott and hounded Terry aswell...

Hence the "Manchester United have failed" part of my scenario.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

    Newcastle United last day scenario:

David "I'm a fookin' cretin" Craig will be standing outside Shearer's Bar with a selection of window licking Geordies who will froth at the mouth when he spits out a load of crap about various players "coming to Benton".

"Wi aye man, that's a canny signing", they'll cheer.

Moments later after Jim White has finished screaming at the nation with spit all down his freshly pressed suit, he'll go back live to Shearer's where the slack jawed Geordies have built a shrine to our new number 9.

"DAVID!!! WHAT'S THE WORD ON THAT NEW STRIKER?", Jim yells.

"Well Jim, I've just received word that he's not coming to Newcastle. My sources can now confirm that Derek Llambias has just had a good laugh trolling the Geordie nation in yet another transfer window"

It is at this stage when David Craig turns to the dismayed and heartbroken Geordie's and appears to unveil a Sunderland jersey.
Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias appear from within Shearer's bar with Sunderland jersey's and burn the famous number 9 jersey with Shearer on the back of it.

An ad break occurs on Sky Sports News but moments later more shocking announcements from David Craig are announced after the brief ad break.

"Mike Ashley, having just pissed on the gathering Geordie's... I mean literally pissed on them, has announced that Joe Kinnear has been given the OK to return to management.

A gasp, a moan and a cry arise. "Howay man. You can't do that man. We're gannin' straight doon if you do that.", the Geordie's cry.

"Oi... I can do whateva I fackin' like", a drunken Mike Ashley yells.

And with that, the clock strikes 12 and transfer deadline day comes to a close.

There is no way on earth is Torres finished, in some of the games ive seen him play for Chelski he's been brilliant and thats without scoring, I think the way they play doesnt suit his style, sure look at Drogba he is the complete opposite of Torres and hes been amazing over the years, Chelsea play best with a bustling target man up front and thats 1 thing Torres isnt.

If we (Arsenal) signed Torres we would piss all over that league! :D

City are no bigger than Spurs and have won nothing but the FA Cup yet. Just because you have a billionaire owner for a while does not make you a bigger club.
