The website still says end of November 2011. Apparently they haven't realised it's half way through December...

There's definitely already a couple on the Android market though. They're free too. If you just search for Dublin Bus in the market you should find them pretty easily...

I'll stick with 'Next Bus Dublin'.
Will DB app be better? I have my doubts.

Here is the thread on the Android forum -

Good news, @DublinBusnews on Twitter announced that the official Android app will be officially launched from next week.

iTunes? To much mulled wine maybe :D

It's in the Android Market, search for 'Dublin Bus' and look for the official DB logo.

    First impressions:

Won't stop when you press the 'back' button from the start page, it just reloads the same page. This means that the only way out is by pressing the 'Home' button which leaves the app still running in the background and eating up memory.

Clicking on the 'i' (information) icon in the top-left loads a webpage formatted for a PC - completely unreadable on a mobile device - pure laziness.

Doesn't cache the timetables, reloads every time and the timetable is the same page as you see on a browser on a PC, again no content formatted for mobile users.

Seriously inferior to 'Next Bus Dublin' which is available in free and €1.99 versions.

It's the same on the iPhone app. Given the timetables are changing virtually every week at the moment there is some logic to this until the Network Direct changes are concluded.

I take your point but the fact that timetables are changing frequently is not a valid excuse as to why they push the same webpage to PCs and mobile devices.

If they had separate designs for the two types of browsers it wouldn't be a huge deal to draw from the same source and format the timetable based on the device on which the information is being displayed.

They'll have to change the design of the website regardless of how often the timetable changes and since it's reasonable to assume that the web designers have no involvement with scheduling, there's no reason that I can think of why they can't fix the web design now.

Quite simply, it's to slow to load up. There is an unofficial app called NextBus Dublin which is equally as accurate but quicker. Simples!
