Dollars? Are you in the US?

You don't really need to keep seeing him, it can be beneficial in terms of motivation etc., but once you have learned safe technique on the lifts then you can pretty much work away yourself from info available online. You could maybe check in with him once a month then if you wanted, to get a new prog/see how you're progressing.

What kind of programme has he given you?

Tbh, sure you'd get that for free off any gym instructor. If I were you, I'd either find someone worth paying for and get a decent program, or do it on your own.

What I did when I joined a gym for the first time was 1 session to learn how to use the weights, one to design a program and then check back every 3 months. You don't really need to see a personal trainer regularly but they should be designing programs for you.

well this is a good question , if you think you need professional advice then u can get a PT for few sessions to learn the basic stuff , then carry on alone , the internet is rich in info about trainin & workin out to achieve different goals . a trainin partner will be as beneficial 2 u & a cheaper option.
