From reading various sources of information I have a query in relation to over training. Is there a set amount e.g. no more than 4 weights sessions per week, or does it depend on the individual?

I am just worried that I am not giving myself enough recovery time.

    Thoughts?

Too many factors to list, very individual specific - short answer = no.

Longer answer = generally gonna be effected by:
    -calorie intake
    -calorie source
    -training volume
    -training intensity
    -type of training
    -sleep patterns
    -non exercise stress levels
-ones inherent ability to tolerate high workloads
-mental ability to keep pushing when the going gets tough (stupidity perhaps)
-a ton of horomnal stuff I don't know enough about to comment on

    ....amongst loads of other things.

Comprehensive answer = go get an exercise phyisology degree and fill me in :)

Yeah I figured that it'd be an answer compiled by many variables. I know that the pro's train twice a day etc but they obviously have assistance in recovery.

To sum up - I'm just going to keep training a lot.

COH would have the "just f*ckin' train" mentality, as would a few others.

My own opinion (which changes every now & again) is that a Deload is necessary every now & again.

As to the frequency Of the Deload, that's another issue entirely.

I've had a Deload 1 week in 4, 1 week in 5, 1 week in 10-12 & there are little differences between them in terms of recovery.

It's about learning to listen to your body & knowing when to back off.
You could take a week off every 6-8 weeks, you could do a week where you only do half the volume & half the intensity if you feel weird not going to the gym.

Or you could just switch from a strength based programme to a hypertrophy based one every 8-12 weeks

I do think it's important to have a few days off a few times a year though.

I've just finished a 12 week programme & aim to start another 10-12 week programme on Monday Jan 2nd.
I'll be using the next three weeks to do more hypertrophy & technique based training before going on an out & out strength programme again.

the pros they train twice a day , because thats what they do 4 living , so they dedicate their lives to sport, & they spend a lot of mpney in supplements to help them recover quickly & physio & other stuff , if u r not a pro , then overtrainin is an issue , if your goal is to gain more mass , then your body needs to recover , after all the muscles develop when u r recoverin not when u r pushin weights .

Can you please stop with the text speak. It's against the rules for a reason, i.e. it's extremely annoying.
