My tablet is supported, so I might get this for that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,751 ✭✭✭Ste-

I'd say it might work on other devices but not supported.
Either that or someone on XDA will find a way to get it to work on other devices, so long as your phones is able to play it.

Evo3d not on list but it should be grand.

Xperia play not on the list, lots of us got those recently. Do folks think it will make the cut?

Edit: Wait those listed are all dual core aren't they, I guess that rules the play out so :(

All Tegras bar the Rezound, which I'm guessing just made the cut despite the dual 1.5ghz.

Surely the SGS2 is powerful enough to handle it? I'm sickened!

Sony have implied it will be coming to the Xperia Play before Christmas on their official Xperia Play Twitter feed (XperiaGames). Not exactly a confirmation though. Appartenly, when GTA3 was initially announced for iOS/Android devices, GTA3 was listed as one of the games coming to the Xperia Play on presentation used by Sony Ericsson. Again, hardly a confirmation but may be likely.

Hmm, controls will be clunky on anything but Xperia Play I fear.

Ever played the Gameboy version :pac:

Didnt expect it to to be listed, But the Galaxy note isn't there.

Good thing is that it has the same resolution as the galaxy tab 10.1, Which means getting it to work on it shouldn't be to hard.

Can't find the article now but when I wnet digging last night I came across an article from October where sony said there will be "a" GTA game coming but didn't specifically mention GTA3 , could we be getting china town wars perhaps? Unlikely though I did like that game alot.

I know that one you linked to is also from Oct. but the one I read got me thinking. Still more likely 3 than any of the others I'd say.

For those interested in gta 3 for the xperia play, It may be gta 1 and not number 3.

Alot of talk is happening based on this picture.

    XperiaPLAYGTA.png

The logo for Grand theft auto 1 is there, Now that might just be for posterity sake and it could be any game they are bringing, But they never said it was going to be gta 3.

I do hope you get Gta 3 for the xperia play as it would be a shame if they didn't put it on it.

The galaxy note is what I'm hoping for!

The play seems like a natural fit for gta, but I can't see it being anywhere near powerful enough.

Well the iPhone 4 can support it then surely the Xperia play can. Although the iPhone 4 and iPad(Same processor) are the only single core devices on the list.

Let's be fair now, There is a few high powered devices on the list that aren't supported as of yet.

The SGS2, The Galaxy Note and the Galaxy Nexus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,625 ✭✭✭Thor

GTA 3 is now available on the App store for iOS devices.

No word on Android devices, But I'm sure it will be later today.

Thought the Adreno 205 in the play had the abilities of what is the 200, didn't realize that it's pretty much on par with the 4.

Just gave it a bash on the iPad2, textures are nice and sharp but the draw distance isn't that far leading to a bit of pop in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,663 ✭✭✭Nolimits

It's up on the market https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rockstar.gta3&pli=1

Says it's compatible with all of my devices (galaxy nexus and htc desire)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,060 ✭✭✭Kenny Logins

    Nooooooooo!

Compatible with HP touchpad, HTC Desire but not the SGS2 I own now.

There are 4 or 5 different builds under similar names, presumably for different chipsets.

Try GTA3, Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto III etc. All released by Rockstar Games.

Just installed it on my Desire. 431MB of additional files to be downloaded after install!

I'll have to wait until I get home to download, connection is dire in work.

Oh yeah, thanks. Better to search on the phone I suppose...

Nope, still nothing.. Maybe because I'm on 2.3.4 KG6

Will buy this when I get home. It says its compatable with all my devices. So it will work on my tablet, and on my xperia play phone as well :D.

I says this build is compatible for the Xperia Play:

Weird how the different builds are all priced differently!

It says in the description that it will be coming shortly to the GN. Have it installed so I should see the update in a few days, like what happened with Reckless Racing PLAY.

    might get this for xmas

None of the versions are compatible with my Xperia Play. Running Cyanogenmod 7.2

Bit silly if it isn't compatible, pretty much the only standalone device that it would be properly playable on.

Its compatible with mine, but I am using the stock rom. So maybe its a rom issue?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,721 ✭✭✭Otacon

Downloaded on my SGT 10.1. Installed the extra data.

It takes a few seconds to boot up. I select Start Game then New Game. A load screen appears, gets to 80% then crashes out. No FC message or anything.

    I am disappoint.

Yep, I imagine it's a Rom issue alright.

wes, did you buy it? Does it use the xplay controls?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,583 ✭✭✭marcbrophy

Seeing as all versions state they are incompatible with my SGS2, yet in the reviews, people are saying that it works perfectly on the SGS2, does anyone know if people are buying / installing it to their SGS2's through the market somehow or getting the game through 'other methods'?? ;)

Just to clarify, I'm not interested in these other methods, I'm trying to buy the thing on the market, with no success :(

I bought it, but I haven't installed it, as I don't have wifi access right now. Will install when I get home later.

Apparently the touchpads don't work, but the D-Pad and all the other buttons do!

Probably looking at the wrong version of the game and it's actually restricted by region, not phone model. Try this one which I have just installed on my SGS2:

Must be ROM related, that is 'not compatible' with mine.

Keeps shutting down on me after a get in the car at the start. Using an Xperia play. Game definitely needs to be switched to SD. Taking up 14mb of phone memory!

Was able to purchase it on HTC Desire HD running Black Ice 1.26b, but I had to change back to 240 dpi for it to show up in the market, whether it will run or not is a different story.

Runs very smoothly on the touchpad, the controls are surprisingly good.

Evo3d it gets to loading screen and stops. Didn't wait to long.
Does it take a while to load or do I need to cry?

Xperia Play and the controls are very nice. no issues yet with it

Running on my SGS2 no problem :)
Played the starting cutscene fine, only paused for a second just near the end.
Had one or 2 slight pauses when playing but nothing annoying.

Thanks, I had checked them all on the web marked and searched on the phone, but have had no luck at all! Like Kenny below, it says not compatible on the web market.

I'm using Lite'ning ROM 6.1 on mine, how about you?
The stupid thing is that it shows it as being compatible with my x8, but that thing has CM 7.1 on it!! FFS! :D

Plays well for me too, cheaper than expected only 3.49

Controls will take a bit of getting used to but much better than having to use only the screen. I keep pressing triangle to get into a car.

It's amazing that I can still remember the lines of dialogue and know my way around and where all the hidden packages and rampages are in the early stages, I played this way too much when it came out first :D

Best thing is the radio stations are all there !!!!!!

Batista 3.5. A pretty old one in ROM terms, but it works for me.

Yeah lite'ning hasn't been updated since August, so it's pretty old too :)

Ah well, I'll take a look on XDA later on to see if there's a solution!
