I just hope they don't spend as much time fapping about with soap-operatics / harmless banter this time around. The last one literally took hours to get going.

This came out of nowhere!! Saw the ad on telly and thought it was a repeat of the last series, happy days!!

It is. Still the most harrowing scene I've seen on any television series. :(

Indeed, the last episode of last '86 is up there with some scenes from the Red Riding trilogy for scenes so harrowing that you can never erase from your memory.

Powerful stuff. Kinda dreading something similar in this one's finale but at the same time I would be dissapointed if it doesn't happen.

Is this series all going to be about Lol losing the plot?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,027 ✭✭✭St.Spodo

Bricks were shat there at the end when Lol's dad came up in the corner of the mirror.

Thoroughly enjoyed the episode. Looking forward to the next one.

Harsh. Slow can be good too you know. Enjoyed it myself.

I reckon it'll be a slow build up, and then a lot all at once. Just watched a few cast interviews on the ch4 website and it sort of sounds like it all ends in tragedy and heartbreak. A lot of wounded folks starting to spiral.

Hi guys I really should ask this in the "what's that song" thread but anyone there would have to have watched this prog to be able to answer it and even then its still unlikely.

I'be been waiting a few months for this music to crop up again and I can't even remember where I heard it the first time but i'm 90% sure its the piece i'm after.

It was the last scence in the episode where your one was looking in the mirror and she suddenly sees a bloke (her Dad?). What is the religious music in the backround?

Its classical ,soprano and chorus, maybe a madrigal or likewise. The damn credits never came up(typical).

Anyway its unllkley many will know it but i'd thought i'd ask anyway while its still fresh in peoples memories .Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,379 ✭✭✭✭SteelyDanJalapeno

Pretty this is only 3 parts, so it cant be too slow

Think it was "Let My Prayer Arise", the same track played at the end of Dead Man's Shoes.

Na but its very very close Surly thanks. listened to your suggestion on Youtube and i reckon its around the same era and maybe even in Latin.

3 Seconds of it used on a Top gear episode few months back as well but when i emailed them asking what the 3 second piece was near the start of the Skoda Yeti review they declined to reply.

I was supposed to find it for someone who wanted a minute of powerfull vocal music for their short film project a few months back but i couldn't track this down and they ended up using some well inferior guff instead .

The problem was i couldn't remember where i'd heard it , when i'd heard it or at times if i'd even heard it at all . But i'm almost certain that was it last night so i either wait for the video with list of credits or i email Mr Meadow himself although i doubt he'll have time to reply to me.

Its deffo not Hans Zimmer or any of those dudes either cause i've been through all their stuff and about 20 differents film soundtracks and classical compilation albums too!

On the topic of music what a great song. You could watch this series for the music alone.

great show i love how they jump forward a few years and you have to fill in the blanks yourself although their very obvious. woody must of tried to kill himself after discovering it was milky s baby. the person who plays woody is a fantastic actor as is the main female lead

Have to say i wasn't overly impressed.. a slow episode which now only leaves 2 more.

In order for it to be able to stack up against the film and the 86' series a lot will need to happen in the next two episodes which i think is just too fast.

Lots of people saying this...I think the opposite is true...something mental is going to happen and the impact of that would be ruined if the first episode was high octane.....In fact it was coincidently the great Dave Lombardo who said "never blow your load on the first song"!

thought it was a great reintroduction to the characters and what they're doing two years on. Now that all that is out of the way, it leaves episodes 2 and 3 to move things forward.

Absolutley top man . I owe you pint for that .

Gregorio Allegri - looks like it was written in the 1600's too, no wonder i couldn't find it lol.

This piece has been lodged in my head for well over a year now and no wonder - its ace.

Still can't remember where I heard it .

    Thank you sir.

Thought it was a cracking start. A lot better than the start of 86, the first two epsiodes were like a different program compared to the final two, they were still great though, really funny. I thought the last series was some of the best drama ive ever seen so fingers crossed this time around.

I remember at the time Meadows didnt direct the first two episodes but i believe this time around he is directing all three. Lastnight was more like a gentle reintroduction but with enough grit to keep you totally focussed. The character story lines seemed fairly flawless and there was also the odd bit of humor aswell, . Anyone know if Combo will be in this series? It seems unlikely that two years later he'll be out for murder, unless he went on the run.

The music was top drawer as always, anyone remember this song from the last series? Amazing

thats correct, Meadows didn't direct the first two episodes of TIE 86

i thought last night was excellent well acted and scripted..with the right balance of humour and drama

    > was the middle-class dad taking the piss out of Shaun trying to make him feel uncomfortable in front of his daughter?? seemed like that to me

Don't think so, just think he was a pretentious twat, he got on m t%ts a bit, didn't think the casting was great he was overly camp, maybe that, was the,intention...…

Was expecting a lot better tbh. Lastnights episode was only ok and VERY slow and tonights is no better. Far less humour than the previous series's. Hoping for an exciting finale

Aw, poor Smell. She doesn't deserve that. I hope Shaun isn't growing up to be a dcikhead.
