    Mine too.
Bought some for 35c last week, but they've reduced them to 27c this week.
    I wonder why?

I reckon they must have overstocked on these and want to clear em before xmas or they will perish.

THey might jus have ordered them in for this week as well.

The good news for irish suppliers of these products is that they still get paid the full price even if aldi discount it.

Had a look at the label of the tomatoes, says they are imported from Senegal. I pay 27c for 250g. I realise Aldi are a giant retailer but how is this economical?

Anyone have this weeks Super 6?

They'll probably still be sued for false advertising!

I'm not a big fan of clementines but hey i can squeeze them for cheap orange juice;)

Pineapples and melons - one cent cheaper than Dunnes!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,398 ✭✭✭dfbemt

Stocked up in Aldi on these.

Guy at till tells me that if Dunnes or Teco drop their pineapple or melon prices then Aldi will drop all the above to 19c

Had the spuds for dinner. No problems, lovely in casserole and they are produced in Ireland.

We will be getting the Christmas ham in Aldi too. Had it before and it was lovely. They are doing a large ham for €8.99 plus 40% extra free. That is almost a 3Kg ham which does us with some left over for the sambos.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,300 ✭✭✭✭casio4

I bought the ham in Aldi today its huge well worth €8.99

Dunnes (Georges St., Dublin 2) have pineapples at 19c each, yes 19c. They're Fyffes from Costa Rica, and they look nice. They're green so will need a few days to ripen. Max 5 per customer.

    I likes pineapples, I does...

With Lidl dropping their sprouts, carrots and parsnips to 22c and Dunnes dropping their pineapples to 19c will Aldi follow suit?

I bought more from Aldi today. The carrots are all peeled, chopped and in the freezer, the spuds out of their plastic bags and into paper sacks, and the fruits being left to ripen fully. Tempted to buy more but at this stage I have enough for a family of 5 to live on for a week !!!

Bought 10 kg of spuds for 90c. Tasty they are too.

Picked up some of the veg offers this morning. Also got one of their small Turkeys at €12.99 as they were all out of frozen ones. States minimum weight is 3kg, but it weighed in at 4.44kg and didn't seem much smaller than the bigger €19.99 ones. They also had some lines clearing at €1 and €2. Picked up some welly socks for €1 and kids dressing gown for €2. There were a few other things such as men's shorts for €2, kitchen descaler for €1, and a few other things I can't remember. (This was in the Mahon branch)

If you can put them into a big bucket of peat moss outside and that should keep them ok. Keep them in the dark at least and cool.

 I knew they'd go cheaper but 15c is unbelievably cheap:eek:

Will they be giving them away from free before this price war is over I wonder?

    I feel robbed. I bought carrots x 4, spuds x 3, sprouts x 2, clementines x 2 yesterday. Thats 33c I could have saved. Not to mention the 50c I spend in Dunnes for two pineapples. :D

I almost want the weather to be colder so I can store more in the shed for longer. Mental prices.

Some in finglas this morning. If aldi run out of sprouts, there are great quality ones for 22 cents in lidl. They are trimmed and ready to cook. Seemed fresher than aldi's. Also, parsnips, baby potatoes and onions are 22 cents.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,194 ✭✭✭saa

Got myself the 15 cent carrots and clementines this morning.

I saw a man with a trolley full of the clementines, they must be good for orange juicing.

That is crazy! Could he be a shop owner, I'm sure 15c a pineapple is cheaper that what they would be wholesale.

i love aldi , i tell everyone about it they think its crappy food , its good quality stuff
they say tesco is the same price , i say tescos ****test products are they same price as aldis quality products ,,,they still dont care

    It's a reasonable assumption.

@cloptrop The Local Aldi and Lidl stores here have an even spread of Irish to non-national workers, you must live somewhere fancy.

I have to say I'm genuinely surprised to hear that. As I already said the staff in our stores in Clondalkin are a good mix of nationalities.
