I like keanu, he was a bit of a socially awkward penguin there too, that's what I'm like offering my seat up too :D

Keanu's been doing good stuff like this for years. Soup Kitchen visits, chilling with homeless people, I *think* he gave an apartment to a homeless guy for a year, but can't find any links to support it. But there's a lot of crap he's done that he never wants credit or recognition for, and he's been through a lot of loss himself. Seriously nice guy.

people give Keanu Reeves a lot of stick on the net but he's supposed to be an absolute gent, he had a tough few years with his kid and partner both dying so if he wants to eat sandwiches by himself then let him off.

Perhaps not, likely it's just some sad no life fúck using their mobile phone to capture him. So he probably hasn't a clue

He actually seems to be the only last genuinely nice celebrity left.

Always liked the man myself, he just comes across as a regular down to earth dude and not some media bítch.

Ah bless. I don't get why the video is entitled "gentleman or douche" how the f*ck is giving your seat up for someone else douchey? Idiot (the dude who uploaded it).

Back in 2003 when he finished the Matrix series:
Man of the moment Keanu Reeves has shown his generosity by giving away £50 million of his earnings from the Matrix sequels. The 38-year-old decided to hand over the money to the unsung heroes of the sci-fi blockbusters - the costume and special effects teams.

Keanu is expected to make a total of £70 million from the films, thanks to a deal which guarantees him a 15 per cent profit-share, so he will still net around £20 million. Asked about his prodigious act of generosity, the actor said he already had enough cash. "Money is the last thing I think about. I could live on what I have already made for the next few centuries," he declared.

And it's not the first time the Beirut-born star has shown his jaw-dropping benevolence. While shooting the films in Australia he amazed the team of stuntmen by giving them each a £6,000 Harley Davidson motorcycle. And the actor, whose sister has leukaemia, has also channelled millions into cancer research.

His gift to the Matrix series' 29 behind-the-scenes whiz-kids will see each of them receiving £1.75 million.

Not a great actor, but a great example of celebrities shunning the sickingly rich and plastic lifestyle. Coming from a poor background and having gone through some horrible moments in his life it really is nice to see he still prefers a relatively normal lifestyle rather go the complete opposite of what he grew up in and live in a mansion full of meaningless expensive shìte.

Plus, he's immortal. He still looks like he's in his 30s, not a guy touching 50.

    The man doesn't age.

Also, I wanna give him a hug.

That's why he's always so sad, he feels he's not reaching his generosity potential.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 914 ✭✭✭Tazium

*High Five* that was very gentlemanly of him. Notice also he hasn't got ear buds stuck in his ears.

I'll buy him a pint next time I see him.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,264 ✭✭✭Pretty_Pistol

At first I thought he kept looking around because he wanted someone to recognise him. :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

he's the kind of celebrity I like, keeps to himself mostly and unless he has a movie coming out doesnt do many interviews, compare someone like him to people like the Lohans, Kardashians and other Z listers of the world who try get their mugs in the media every chance they get.

A word of warning......I once gave my train seat to a woman when I had about 40 mins of journey to go, she said thanks, sat down and then got off the next stop at which point a bloke sat down in the now empty seat!!

Lesson is, if you give up your seat dont go away feeling all gallant, instead hover over the person in case their journey is shorter than yours- if you do it creepily enough their journey always will be....:pac:

    What a nice guy.

I think he may have seen the camera. It doesnt at all take away from the act of kindness in the slightest, but i think he knew that it would be an oppertune way for the internet happy to know him for more than eating a sandwich.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,903 ✭✭✭Napper Hawkins

Always had respect for the guy after hearing about all the generous things he has done.
He also keeps to himself and doesn't court publicity.

He's not the best actor but there are far worse than him imo.

I also don't really get what the video is about, is it implying that he's a douche for giving up his seat? ****ing really?!

He knows well he's being filmed by the way and is just taking no notice. You don't stay famous for this long without developing the ability to know when someone's got a camera pointed at you, which is a daily occurence for him I'm sure. I'm pretty confident he would have given up his seat anyway.

I think the douche part comes from the fact that a black guy sits down beside and immedietely afterwards he gives up his seat

Exactly, an example such as Keira Knightley.
If she doesn't have a film or play or whatever coming out then you wouldn't hear or see her for months on end.
You won't see her falling out of pubs, snorting coke etc. Not tabloid friendly.

I always like when celebrities are humble and modest. I really thought he was a great guy after seeing him on the Graham Norton show some time ago.

Dumb asses like Jordan should follow suit...
