The Biggest One: Arsenal v Everton

    Kick-off: 1500 GMT

    Team News
Arsenal return to the Emirates Stadium from their defeat in Olympiakos and face a tricky task against an Everton side looking for a positive return after last weekend's loss.

The Gunners took the opportunity to refresh their side in Athens after already sealing qualification, but their inexperience proved costly as they lost 3-1. Arsenal will be delighted with their current return to form and they showed their class last weekend with a 4-0 win away at Wigan. Defender Andre Santos has been ruled out for three weeks following an ankle injury suffered in Athens, so Thomas Vermaelen will deputise at left-back for Arsene Wenger. Midfielder Mikel Arteta will face his former side for the first time since his summer switch to North London from Merseyside.

Everton were disappointing against Stoke last weekend and were beaten 1-0 at Goodison Park. David Moyes' small squad are beginning to suffer injuries with midfielders Jack Rodwell, Leon Osman and Royston Drenthe doubts for the trip to North London. Louis Saha should return and is expected to lead the line as Everton look to cure their goalscoring headache so far this season. The Toffees are making strides after a poor season and will be hopeful of a positive result against an in-form Arsenal.

This weekend sees the 125th year anniversary since the formation of Arsenal and the Gunners will be looking to celebrate with all three points. Everton will provide tough opposition, but Wenger's side should be able to pass the test and pick up their seventh win in eight Premier League games.

Wouldn't be the worst way to line up at all. Some suggested Song should be played at the back instead of Djourou or Miquel, but I think we should keep him in midfield. Everton won't be an easy game, but hopefully we can pull another win out of this one.

3 points is vital, reckon it'll be a tough game.

Afraid of my life of two things -
1 Djourou is playing poorly at right back and
    2 Howard Webb refereeing.
Hope i'm wrong but I can see a draw here,

Dear God, please make me wrong and surprise me with a 3 nil please.

Horrendous pass from Walcott, if youarent goign to shoot atleast get such an easy pass right. Typical arsenal chances at the start but no goal.

Lol, only we could conspire not to score from there...

Considering how many chances we've thrown away so far I predict us to follow our usual jokeshop procedure and go in 1-0 down at halftime.

Hopefully it's not one of those days :(

Bad first half overall.plenty of possession but no end product!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,055 ✭✭✭✭tayto lover

Can't believe how stupid Walcott actually is. Nearly always goes offside or plays the wrong ball. I think we will see him substituted yet again in the second half. We should be well ahead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,571 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

That first half is like looking back at us over the past few seasons. Loads of possession with few chances, and the chances we did get were missed horrendously.

If we don't get an early goal in the second half I can see the old "09/10 season 82nd minute sucker punch" making a return.

He's probably the most inconsistent player in the premier league

He's causing them a lot of problems, would be a dreadful decision to take him off.

Any fear of Arsenal scoring? Have them in the accumulator and all going to plan so far apart from you lot :)

    What a strike by RVP!!!!!

Thats exactly the reason why we need to break our wage structure to keep a man of his talents at the club other wise he'll be gone out the gap next summer to the likes of real madrid etc

Great goal but very poor team performance. Some of our players are just not up to the required standard.

Szczesny shows his true colours... bloody bootlicker.
