Sorry LeoB missed your Mount Gamble answer in your previous Post, Yes your correct I would say everyone here has stood on Mount Gamble at one time, its were the Pavilllons now sits.

Looked up the supposed Brixter,
M.P. Abbotstown House, Co. Dublin by the tenantry of his severel estates viz.: Holmpatrick, Dublin, Meath, Carlow, Down and Queens County in testimony of their esteem for him as a kind friend and benevolent landlord. He represented this County in Parliament for twenty-two years and died 19th june 1863

Ahh the good old days when you could publically buy your MP seat. Can't really say from that if he was a goat or a brixter

Rich landowner who bought the family MP seat that his father use to hold. The Hamilton family originated in Scotland came to Ireland claim half the country between 5 brothers then their decendents preceded to spend 400 years fighting in every major battle on the island for both sides or in Western Europe.

The bio of the said James Hans Hamilton from Wiki.
James Hans Hamilton (February 1810 – 30 June 1863), was an Anglo-Irish Member of Parliament.
Hamilton was the son of Hans Hamilton. He was elected to the House of Commons for County Dublin in 1841, a seat he held until 1863. Hamilton married Caroline Trant, daughter of John Frederick Trant. He died in June 1863, aged 53. His son Ion succeeded him as Member of Parliament for County Dublin and was elevated to the peerage as Baron HolmPatrick in 1897.

More on how you were elected in those days, you can bet if you were a tenant that voted against him you suddenly became landless.

Skerrieshomepage.com
He represented this County in Parliament for twenty-two years and died 19th june 1863. James Hans Hamilton repesented County Dublin in Parliament. It would be far more accurate to say that Ms.P. then repesented their own interests and the interests and the interests of the landowning class to which they belonged. Voting in those days was public and it was only in 1872 that the secret ballot paper was first introduced. Tenants entitled to vote gathered at Balbriggan Courthouse and as the registrar called out their names, they shouted out the name of the landowner for whom they wished to vote. As a reward for the vote the tenant was given half a crown (now =16 c.), a substantial amount then, by the landlord's agent.

A little on his father below.

Wiki
Hans Hamilton (ca. 1758 – December 1822) was an Anglo-Irish Member of Parliament.
Hamilton sat for Dublin County in the Irish House of Commons from 1798 until the Act of Union in 1801. He was subsequently elected to the British House of Commons for County Dublin, a seat he held until his death in December 1822. His son, James Hans Hamilton, and grandson, Ion Trant Hamilton, also represented this constituency in Parliament. The latter was raised to the peerage as Baron HolmPatrick in 1897.
LeoB wrote: »

Hacketstown seems to be the North Co address for the Hamiltons but his father Hans Hamilton addresses were listed

The Gentleman and citizen's almanack for the year of our Lord 1815
Hans Hamilton Esq. a governor of the county of Dublin.(Union Hotel), St James Square London, Mountjoy Square Dublin, Sheephill Dublin, and Holm Patrick Balbriggan

The confusion about the Hamiltons being Goats or Brixters is because one part of the Hamilton family owned Holmpatrick and their cousins owned Hamilton Hall and most of Balbriggan and were MPs for Belfast. So Brixters might be getting the two families mixed up.

Comprehensive history of the Hamiltons of Balbriggan
http://www.balbrigganhistory.net/TheHamiltonsofHamptonHall.pdf

Amazing to think in 1659 Balbriggan population was 30 while Balrothery in the same year had a pop of 204 people. How times have changed.

Skerrieshomepage.com
In 1605 the manor and lands of Holpatrick was granted to Earl of Thomand. In 1721 the last Earl sold the manor and lands, including the town of Skerries, to the Hamilton family of Hacketstown. In 1897 the Hamilton family were granted the title of Lord Holmpatrick
Lord Holmpatrick. Owned a lot of Skerries back in the old days.

His son Ion was the 1st Lord Holmpatrick not actually James Hans Hamilton himself.
Ion Trant Hamilton, 1st Baron HolmPatrick PC (14 July 1839 – 10 March 1898), was an Anglo-Irish Member of Parliament.
HolmPatrick was the son of James Hans Hamilton and Caroline Trant. He succeeded his father as Member of Parliament for County Dublin in 1863, a seat he held until 1885. He was admitted to the Irish Privy Council in 1887 and also served as Lord Lieutenant of County Dublin from 1892 to 1898. In 1897 he was raised to the peerage as Baron HolmPatrick, of HolmPatrick, in the County of Dublin.
Lord HolmPatrick married Lady Victoria Alexandrina Wellesley, daughter of Major-General Lord Charles Wellesley and granddaughter of Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, in 1877. He died in March 1898, aged 58, and was succeeded in the barony by his only son Hans. Lady HolmPatrick died in 1933.

The present Lord Holmpatrick is the 4th and not surprisely he is a Hans.

Wiki
Lord HolmPatrick is the son of the late James Hans Hamilton, 3rd Baron HolmPatrick (1928–1991) and Anne Loys Roche Brass. The 3rd Lord HolmPatrick was the son of Hans Wellesley Hamilton, 2nd Baron HolmPatrick (1886–1942) and Lady Edina Conyngham (1888–1964), daughter of Henry Conyngham, 4th Marquess Conyngham (1857–1897). In turn, the 2nd Lord HolmPatrick was the son of Ion Trant Hamilton, 1st Baron HolmPatrick and Lady Victoria Alexandria Wellesley. She was a daughter of the courtier Major-General Lord Charles Wellesley. Her paternal grandfather was the great British general Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington. She was also the elder sister of the 3rd and 4th dukes. She was granted the rank of a duke's daughter in 1884. The first Lord HolmPatrick was an MP and Irish civic leader.
The future Lord HolmPatrick married Gill Francesca Anne du Feu, the daughter of Squadron Leader Kenneth James (Toby) Harding, on the 19th of July, 1984. The Hon. James Hans Stephen Hamilton (born 6 October 1982) is the heir incumbent to the barony.I]citation needed[/I Lord HolmPatrick was a Labour peer until 1999, when most of the hereditary peers were removed from the House of Lords by the House of Lords Act 1999
