    Its just Eureka, dammit. :)

Sky add the "A Town Called..." bit because there was an old BBC science show called Eureka.

    Pssst: change the title :P

As for the episode, it technically was a standalone special I guess (mine showed up as Season 5 Episode 1, but technically it was Season 4 episode 21) it was a bit of fun and that's all that Eureka is supposed to be, but I'm sick of the continuity destruction in Eureka.
    Roll on actual season 5

    Ehhh,how do you edit a post? :o

Season 5 isn't starting. For some reason the Christmas episode was released as S05E01 but the actual season 5 dosen't start till the summer. Unfortunately also Season 5 is to be its last.

SyFy being the dicks that they are cancelled it using a press release in August without even telling the cast. Not the first time they have pulled that move either. Did the same thing with SG:U last season.

Must say for a network formerly called SciFi they are doing a great job of ostracising Sci Fi fans. Will be little else beyond WH13 left on SyFy after this.

When are Syfy UK showing the xmas episode?
I can't see it on the schedule - the warehouse 13 was tonight.

Oh I really loved that. There was a whole new level of menace in the first episode that's not often seen in Eureka. I was kind of disappointed that almost everything (apart from relationships) was resolved by the end, but the last scene made up for it.

Great to have this show back. :o

Really? I hated the ending. Basically it's "and it was all a dream". Far more interesting dramatically to have had them move four years on, just as it worked when they jumped time lines. This basically undoes anything that happened in the episode, rendering all the character moments meaningless.

Yes, I know there were a few pointers in the episode that had me suspicious (particularly when Zane got zapped, along with Alison puzzling over the time shift) but dammit I hate undoing episodes. Maybe it'll work out to be something better.
Great to have this show back. :o
Other than the ending, I agree. Really liked the episode, including Creepy Andy.

Don't get me wrong, it was a great episode. I would have preferred Sarah and Andy running the town (for a few more episodes at least), but when everything was wrapped up with a nice bow by the end of the episode, I was disappointed. The ending redeemed it somewhat.

I agree, it was nice to have the show back but I would have preferred to keep the "rebellion" storyline going a bit longer. The ending redeemed it slightly, but how did they even get there?

I think if they're going to do a "real" world parallel and the "fake" one they should have at least kept the fake world interesting. Lots of little hints throughout the episode, the most obvious were all the Matrix nods.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,849 ✭✭✭Redisle

Yeah the part about it all being a dream was pretty annoying but I knew something was up.

It was pretty obvious that the ship had been taken over by those people although at first I thought that they had been experimenting on the crew for 4 years before sending them back.

I also don't think Jack+Joe would ever happen. Then there was the Zane flashback.

Kind of a strange motive for stealing the ship though.. one would think they would be more interested in exploiting the technology than the crew. That brain hookup idea also looks like it was taken straight from various episodes of SG-1.

    Awesome awesome awesome.

    That is all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,564 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Still have to watch this week's but I think the whole idea behind it being all a dream gives the makers a chance to do something similar to last season's new timeline except this time they can have other stories.
There are a few possible stories here:
The crew back 4 years later and the changes.
1 or more of them realising it's fake and trying to convince the others and find a way out.
Jack, Henry and co looking for them in the real world.

Then when they do escape, imagine how the likes of Zane and Alison will adjust after seeing Jack and Jo together. They'll start being suspicious since they saw them as a couple.

Of course after me typing all that, last night's ep probably just resolved the storyline and they've moved on. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Nope! Not even close to being resolved. :o

    Enjoy!

Killing off Felicia Day is a crime that is unforgiveable, not sure i can continue to watch the show after that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,564 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

I'm in denial that she's gone. That was pretty sudden and harsh. And poor Fargo as well. He was so happy. How's her disappearance going to be explained? DoD have her classified as well?
And did you think the dragon looked like a Night Fury from How to Train Your Dragon?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,780 ✭✭✭JohnK

Wow, didnt see that ending coming at all

There is one thing I dont get though - if senator Winn is the one in charge/oversight of Eureka then why does she need to take the people and put them in a virtual world to invent stuff? Why not just do it in the real world? Surely she’d still have access to all the research data they’d generate anyway

Not if she's working for bad guys. Like she may be able to get the data but it would involve paperwork and loads of other red tape that would lead back to her.

Also how often have they invented something as a once off or that they destroyed before it could be documented. This way they get everything

Omg! :( Betcha beverly will crack and end up contacting the guys at eureka.

Damn, that was really dark :( The final shot of
FakeCarter standing coldly over her dead sim body was perhaps the bleakest shot in the series run.

I have to say that's a horrific punishment. Spend the rest of your life in a VR, with no other people ever, in a single room with nothing to do and no possible escape.

You'd go insane inside of a week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

I'm kind of sorry that this story seems all wrapped up now. Is the rest of the season going follow the norm of one piece of tech going haywire per week until it fizzles out at the end, or are we going to have one last decent conspiracy?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 537 ✭✭✭angelll

Don't think they have much time left to do anything really...Agree that's an awful punishment. How many episodes left btw? I know there's an extra one at the end to wrap up the series.

Yay Beverly! Can't say I have any sympathy for the senator. Did they have to show Holly dying again? :(

14 eps this season according to wiki. Think that includes the extra one. So 11 eps left.

Anyone else absolutely loving the first 3 episodes of the 5th and final series.

Real change in tong from the show, really looking forward to the rest of the season.

    ## Thanks mod for moving, didnt see this thread

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,533 ✭✭✭don ramo

only watched the first 3 eps yesterday, didn't think it'd be off to such a solid start,

surely they'll chase down Beverly by the end, i would think that d be the logical conclusion, and maybe they might finally get to titan also,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,176 ✭✭✭1huge1

I guess the writers are really giving it their all for the final season.

Great show and i'm glad it will go out on top.

Hopefully Nathan Stark will make an appearance somehow during the final season. I always loved his character.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,564 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

But when this season was being made they didn't know it would be their last, so imagine if they had known.

Yes that is true, High hopes for that final episode that was commissioned to let the show ''wrap up''.

I thought nothing could top the 1947 timeline but they really outdone themselves this season.

Oooh what's the story with Jo and carter i wonder! Anyone have any spoilers cos no way alison will keep it to herself! V funny episode besides that :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,564 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

I was watching thinking "Ok, can't really blame Zane for not mentioning it was him in Jack's body and thinking it's a dream". Alison looked good. Though I doubt Jo would accept dreaming of Alison as an excuse. :)

As for Jo and Carter, I'd say there's nothing really gonna happen. Just maybe more awkward moments like that shower scene. But I did think Ali-Jack was being a b*tch saying "No" to her.

Wonder what will happen with Holly's brainwaves. I doubt shutting down the mainframe purged them as it seemed like a bigger deal than to be quickly cast aside than that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 537 ✭✭✭angelll

Betcha he'll plug her into the mainframe and she'll be able to talk like sarah... Btw just saw that Zane (Niall Matter) will be in a remake of primeval,if it's half as good as the original uk one i'll be watching :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,564 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Well he did want Sarah Michelle Gellar to voice the house originally, so now he can use another slayer. :)

And the way you put that about Zane sounds more like you'll watch it anyway and being good would just be a bonus. :P I did like how they made fun of his vanity with the reaction to the eating of a cheeseburger.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,533 ✭✭✭don ramo

another solid episode, hard to believe this is the final season, this is probably the best season of eureka yet,

    and can i just DAYUM

    I concur

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 537 ✭✭✭angelll

So...is she back!! What's the betting on holly getting a new body at some stage :D Or fargo choosing to stay in the matrix with her...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,564 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

He seemed to have accepted she was gone and was just there to say goodbye but now her hopes are up, he mightn't want to do anything to upset her and end up visiting more than he should with one episode probably being about him going in before sabotaging his exit and carter has to convince him.

Oh and was it just me or did Holly's face seem chubbier or something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,780 ✭✭✭JohnK

Yeah I'm thinking she'll get an Andy like body, doubt they'll leave one of their greatest minds sitting in a computer! Although saying that, was anyone else expecting to see the camera zoom out at the end then switch over to another room where Beverly was hooked up to one of those beds?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

I was expecting Senator Wynn to be behind the glitches (and maybe even behind Holly). The outcome was a bit more mundane than that, but I still expect her to surface as long as the matrix is still active.

Neil Grayston (Fargo) has gone up in my estimation as an actor this season too. Normally he is just comic relief, but he has really stepped things up this season and shown good acting skill.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,564 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

    Hopefully, for Fargo's sake, it's not a body like Andy's. :P

Was thinking as well was that the same place the senator is trapped in, but I'm sure Holly would've checked the sheriff's office

I've always thought he was pretty good, considering he also does the voice of Carter's house, SARAH.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,564 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Expected the wedding to be a season or series finale event. Instead they rush it into a few minutes? Strange.

And I agree with Zane. Jo filled the catsuit well. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,397 ✭✭✭✭FreudianSlippers

I'm enjoying this season. The writers are doing a good job for the show in that every time we try to see Eureka get back to normal, something happens which is another advanced step towards the finale. I'm dying to know what will happen now with only 2 episodes back and 3 main characters taken out of commission (although I presume by Carter's reaction that the two he found are not actually dead, but in some kind of coma). Roll on next week!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,176 ✭✭✭1huge1

I would love if the extra persons Z Waves were from Nathan Stark trying to make some final entrance to the show. Its not been the same without his character.

Really sucks this show is ending but so ar it seems that the show will end on a high, thats for sure.
