Let's see if the thread can make two pages.

City to win against a weak Bayern side but still go out.

Steady enough start, Bayern content to sit back so far.

Keeper misses ball, falls down in a heap, ref gives free out..is there anything more predictable....

Aw come on. He got cleaned out of it by Lescott. Lescott didn't even touch the ball and clearly stopped Butt going for it. Always a free out.

He wasn't 'cleaned out'. Lescott jumped vertically to head the ball legitimately. The only thing it could have been given for was a high arm but nowhere else on the pitch is that a foul.

Lescott was there too early. He had made a lot of contact with Butt before the ball was above his head.

Sounds like every other headed contest to me.

On the mobile. What are the teams? Are city at full strength?

sounds like munich are playing for a 0-0.

Dammit, I'm starting to believe we might qualify, I was content before k.o as I had resigned myself to the Europa!

Great end to the half. Aguero, Silva and Nasri are buzzing nicely.

I know ive said it twice but i think savic is doing really well.

If these 2 games stay the same as well as a certain other game it would be incredible

The draw at home to Napoli killed us, needed to win that game so can't complain about going out.

Still on for the quadruple ;)

Basel 2-0 united. No mancs in Europe in 2012.

ah ye as was mentioned earlier at the start of play tonight id say the majority of city fans didnt think we would get though and united would so them losing is something at least

    The Champions League?

Barca and Real are light years ahead of City. Not a chance.

not really that disapointed...well done to napoli....we were in a poxy group, and we will learn from it.

as for utd, what can one say.....:pac:

As has already been said, we were in a horrid group, even allowing for how poor Villareal were.We gave it a go, but in the end the opening game at home to Napoli cost us. We were slow out of the blocks and (possibly) took Napoli lightly. Big mistake. They look a more than useful team. We need to learn from this for (hopefully) when we are back next season.

As someone said in the Superthread a while ago,if nothing then this is an excellent learning curve for us,we've had a taste of the Champions League,we should push even harder now to make sure we qualify for next season. We got a torrid group this term and fingers crossed we get a decent one next season.

Let the "Second" Team bring us home the Europa and Carling Cups while the firsts get on with winning that Premier League!

Ya the second team done great last year in the EL. The EPL should be City's bar a crisis and prob the CC though Liverpool are hard to predict. Mancini will be forgiven for this years CL failure if they win the PL but next year they will need to impress in the CL or he is bye bye.

As embarrassing as spending 50 million+ and not getting past the CL group stages? ;)

Another £200m this January and next summer should nearly do it re making the knock outs next year.

On a serious note; CL football is a lot different from League football [notwithstanding you probably have a squad with serious CL experience anyway] and it's pretty common for first timers/clubs who have been out of it for a while to struggle - Dortmund would have been favourites to win Arsenal's group yet they finished last.

yes next years champions league will be a big one for him....but thats next year.....now to concentrate on the premier.........this is a club that have won feck all up to last May.......you have to learn to walk before you can run, despite what some people think no matter how much money it always takes time to build a team ;)
