well to improve those, you first have to improve your strength and power in the legs and core

Are you on holidays? Do you have boards set to AutoReply?

How do you know he's not really strong in the legs and core?

If you want to improve your speed and agility the best thing to do is read up on the various exercises and see what suits you (as in time, ability, equipment, relevance to your sport)

Figure out what is appropriate for your sport and your level of training.

You can go for basic bleep runs to resisted sprints like bungee lines and sled runs.

For agility you can look at T runs, cones all the way up to plyo's.

Dont forget about your upper limb. Med ball throws that simulate your hurling movements can be great for really developing explosive power and speed.

Youtube has tones of different exercises.

Just be careful if you do decide to do plyo work start easy and build up gradually allowing a good rest period afterwards.

Weeeeellllll! Agility/Power/Speed is my favourite topic, I like to learn as much about this topic as possible. From my point of view, the things I think should be worked on are as follows:

    Joint Flexibility
    Lift heavy stuff! Squats/Lunges/Deadlifts
Voilent hip extension - Olympic movements(cleans, snatches)/kettlebell swings
    Shuttle sprints/runs
Single leg squats/Stiff Leg DLs/Single Leg DLs
    Core Work

Obviously in terms of full body/strength there are probably other elements but the above things I would feel are the most important.

Sorry forgot to mention sled/tyre pulls/pushes are important also. They're fun but sickening at the same time! Also plyometrics (high box hops at low rep range works for me).

I'm looking for similiar results. the last 2 months for me have been strenght and conditioning, and starting after Xmas I'm gonna move to SAQ training (Speed, agility and quickness).
I think like the lads say you need first to condition yourself and develop an overall strong body and strong core. But for the actual SAQ training most of it will be outside of a gym doing things like ladders, cones, and HIIT.
There are lots of vids on youtube and plenty of books on the web. I personally need SAQ for martial arts, but I have found the best and most applicable information from the NFL and athletics.
PS Positive shin angle was an eye opener :)

Not sure where you are located but we do sprint classes in Ironside. We offer a free 1st session for everyone so pm me and you can pop in when one is on. We have had great results it will give you something to work on and at the very least you can get your 10/20m laser timed so you know how you stack up.
