After the last few games I don't know what to say.
We have to turn it around eventually (one would hope).
Maybe start by playing players in their favoured positions and put out our strongest XV!
Lets get at Gloucester and give them a right go!
    They are very beatable!
    (problem is so are we!)

    Please Eric play Matthew Jarvis!!!

Actually love how you put a title in thomond :p

expect much the same team. simply don't have the depth to change much. likely grif will still be missing and swifty looks doubtful. be great to see jarvis and vainikolo getting a chance but looks like both are not considered in connachts future

Would like to see a team along these lines

    Wilkinson Flavin Rogers

    McCarthy Swift

    Muldoon George Ray

    POD

    Jarvis

    McSharry Griffin

    Touhy Duffy TOH

There may be a big performance in them yet. You never know....

Swifty is injured but Gannon in there and you're sound. Don't know about Rogers tbh. But besides that my team too.

    Griffin and Swifty are out.

Backline is probably going to be unchanged from last week and we could see Macca slot on for Swifty being the only change in the pack. Don't really agree with that

What's wrong with Griffin. That's a big loss, for him too.

maybe this can refocus them a bit, certainly on our day we could beat them at home, big performance an osing bp ill take but i would love to see a win

I'm most worried about the occasion getting to them in the same way that it seemed to against Toulouse. They need to get their heads on tight. They needs some leadership.

Sky +HD is showing Connacht vs Gloucester with Castres vs Northampton on red button. ERC rugby website also shows Connacht match as being main one so I think it is as these were chosen soon after fixtures were arranged.

    Wilkinson-Reyenecke-Loghney; McCarthy-Naoupu; Gannon-Muldonn-Ofisa; Murphy-O'Connor; O'Halloran-McSharry-Tonetti-McCrea-Duffy

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

Fancy meeting up in the Clan Bar beforehand for some anaesthetics, because if this goes down the way I fear, I'll be needing to drink heavily.

jarvis on bench, nikora injured or what?

Very tasty Gloucester backline. We must win the war of attrition up front, minus 2 of our hardest forwards in Swifty and Concrete. That being said, it's an average enough Gloucester pack and it should hold no fears.

We have to target their lineout. Gannon has been superb there and he's very athletic and with Macca back that's 2 very good operators. Mul and George are well capable as well, that's if we can lift George!

    Niall O'Connor at 10 again.... :(

At least Fa'fili has been booted out of the team.

    starting for the As

cant understand this outhalf selection policy:confused: nikora starts the first two, now noc with nikora out of the team:confused:

What the hell did Jarvis do to piss off Elwood? We were winning games earlier in the season when he was starting, he was playing AIL then for the last few weeks and is only getting back in the matchday squad now...
Hope he gets a good run tomorrow cos I was impressed with him in the first few games... NOC has been hopeless, especially against Treviso last week, yet he still gets the nod

Reckon we should do well off set piece tomorrow, we should be able to pinch a few of their lineouts with Macca and Gannon in. Swifty is a big loss around the park but great to have Macca back, need a big game from him tomorrow.

O'Connells before/after for a beverage or two methinks...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,803 ✭✭✭porterbelly

You'd always forget Andrew Browne is still missing, huge loss for us throughout the season. Concrete and Swifty now as well. With those 3 and a fitter George we'd have the makings of a very good back 5 provided they were all played in their right positions

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,976 ✭✭✭profitius

The selection policy at 10 is very strange. He jumps from one to another giving none of them the run of games they need.

    Good start from Connacht!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Strange, the back five forwards aren't lining out as announced. Gannon is at lock, Muldoon at 6, Ofisa at 7 with Nauopu at 8.

    0-6 now.

Connacht lineout on the Gloucester 22, they need a score to settle down.

    edit: and they lose it.

Sky Sports Extra on Sky Go is showing it. It's not on the main channel list but you can get to it by going to 499 using the search and scan banner. You can also watch it here http://www.skysports.com/eventscentre
