Android Market Apps - reduced to 10c

This seems to work for Ireland too...

    http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-and-communications/android-market-uk-premium-apps-now-just-10p-1045925

A number of premium apps on the Android Market are going for the bargain-basement price of just 10p, as Google goes cheap-as-chips-chirpy for the festive season.

In a promotion which has just landed on the Android Market in the UK, 10 of the most popular apps on the Android Market are now priced at just 10p.

Google is calling this the 10 Billion Promo, as it is to celebrate 10 billion app downloads from the market – which is a significant number for the search giant.

Now we would be a cynical bunch to suggest that this is an easy way for Google to finally get Android users to give over their credit card details – there's far fewer Android apps bought than iOS ones – but it is promotions like these that get phone users to dip into their pockets and get acquainted with the payment system.

The apps which have been selected for the promotion:

According to the US version of the promotion, the chosen apps will be changing everyday so you better get a hurry on and head over to the Android Market now if the above list takes your fancy.

    https://market.android.com/details?id=apps_timed_promotion&feature=banner#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDIwMSwibnVsbC10b3BfZmVhdHVyZWRfYXBwc19HQl9fMV9wcm9tb18xMzIzMTg3MDYzMDczIl0.

So did i. I had been using Swype but that stopped working for me there the other day. I'll give this one a go.

Make sure you get SwiftkeyX to scan your gmail and SMS messages for maximum benefit (it learns your language so it can predict better).

Good sale... I grabbed Sound Hound.

That's because there was an Swype update, the old version always stops working once the new version is out. You have to jump through the hoops to uninstall the old version and download the new one. Apparently that is fixed with this latest version though.

Still Swiftkey for .10c you can't go wrong.

Tried using soundhound before and it was rubbish, shazam is much better.

Is there any way to purchase an app thats not compatible with the phone you currently have? I plan on getting a new phone in the next few days so I'd like to pick up some of the cheap games in the deal but its not letting me.

You can change your build.prop file to appear as another phone google around xda-developers.com

www.getjar.com offers free market apps that cost on the market. I've got beautiful widgets and swiftkey free on it in recent times.

Bought Paper Camera, Minecraft, Sketchbook, Great Little War game and swiftkey for a grand total of around 55 cent. Cracking deal by Google. I've got a feeling i'll be buying a lot of apps in the next few days.

If someone can please link to Samsung Europa build.prop instructions to make it appear more compatible..

All these offers, bar SwiftKey, which I purchased a while back, are closed off.

I'd love Sketchbook mobile, Minecraft etc.

I'm looking to update phone, but not just yet.

The Europa simply won't run most of those apps. Even if you figured out how to change the build.prop to make it appear more compatible it simply will not run Minecraft or GLWG.

Best chance is to install the latest build of Cyanogen from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149110 though I'm not sure if it makes the Europa appear more compatible.

Worth a shot though. At worst you'll get the latest/probably last version of android for your phone.

There's a thread running in the general section suggesting it might be due to the Europa's screen resolution http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090149
Maybe someone will offer some insight if you keep an eye on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,026 ✭✭✭Amalgam

    Cheers Simi.

I'm well aware of the Europa's limitations, I'm burdened with the thing at the moment.. ;)

I'd like the apps to stash away in my Apps wallet, so to speak, a bit of hoarding, ahead of a better phone purchase, in 2012..

Galaxy ace is largely the same except for screen which is 320x480 so you could try the fingerprint from recent build.prop here:

Swiftkey is a stupidly accurate prediction keyboard. Not a swypey.
Altough as others have said, its guessed full messages for me at times O_o

Wouldnt surprise me if SlideIT or something popped up one of the days for more swypey action

    The swines!

What's even sweeter, buying 6 or 7 Apps with a Dublin City Gift Card that has about 90cent left on it.. from a company that went bust a few weeks back. (cards are still active, only the check remainder site is dead..)

How dare your money remain in the EU, why can't all these developers work in the US so that we don't have to pay VAT.

Not really bothered about may of the apps so far, but for 10p a time who cares. Will just go and buy a bit more junk apps myself now seeing as I'll waste more money up the pub tonight.
