Would you date an escort?

So, a recent experience has got me thinking. Would you date someone who was working as or had worked as an escort (e.g. a classy-ish prostitute type)?

In theory I was fine with the idea, but practically, it turns out, no.

To make it clear - I mean date like normally bf/gf date. Not pay for.

Would you date a current or former escort? 254 votes

    No, never, no way.

Relatively unlikely, but if everything else was a 10...

    Former, yes, current, no.

If we're talking a few regular clients for part of college or such, sure. More, no.

Don't even care if she's still in the business, it doesn't bother me!

It'd actually make me MORE interested in dating.

Was this "recent experience" you sleeping with a hooker?

Do tell us about this recent experience you had. And to answer the Q, probably. Doubt it would bother me.

Put it this way. Could you have the evening conversation at the dinner table? Imagine Sasha Grey coming (heh) home and you have a lovely spread (chuckle) and you both tuck in (titter). I doubt you could just turn around and ask...."So........how was your day hon?.........OH where is my mind!? Here gargle this listerine first!"

Didn't sleep with him. Went on a date. Liked him. Found out his side trade. Didn't want a second date.

And no, I didn't pay for anything.

Are you a successful business man and want to get this guy cleaned up because you have taken a shine to him. Hmm. This would make a fine movie.

Yes. They are called homosexuals. They exist alongside heterosexuals. It's a sexual choice that we as a human race are allowed to make but seemingly some people and groups (cof religion) are so backward that they think it outright wrong when it doesn't interfere at all in their own day to day life.

I mean if two dudes were f*cking on my desk I'd go "Ah here getawayouttaday yis gays! Get a room!". Two women? I'd get some popcorn. Double standards. What was my point?

I went to school with a fellow - an Offaly inter-county footballer - who used to say that he wasn't that interested in "nice" girls, but would prefer "the obliging kind".

On that basis, a practising or former escort would be able to give a fellow a good time.;););)

I'd been interested in getting in to this line of work myself. There's lots of ads in the back of FHM advertising for men to become escorts. How would it work. Would I be taking really old people out or is it more women who just want someone to bring to there friends wedding type of thing.
I imagine it's not quite the same type of work as a female escort who is just going to be used for sex.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,328 ✭✭✭cafecolour

Did the rent boy ask you out?

    Yes, though online.

The strangest part was that after I expressed my lack of interest in a second date, he suggested setting me up with his (non-escort) friend. I wasn't exactly sure how they were acquainted (if you get my drift), so I passed.

So, apparently, not only will I not date an escort, I consider all their friends guilty by association. And I used to think I was open-minded once upon a time.

It all depends if I could touch the sides or not.

No, I would not. I do not judge anyone involved in voluntary prostitution, but I could not be intimate with somone I knew would be selling the same acts of intimacy to strangers or had ever done so in the past, regardless of the differing emotional contexts of the acts.

I'd say a lot of them have male customers. If you weren't up for that, you might not get much business.

No, but I'd date a Mondeo or Fiesta. Are we talking about the 1.4 or 1.6 Escort here?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,187 ✭✭✭psychward

Sexually transmitted diseases would be the biggest worry. After that there could be other issues but the disease aspect could be big enough to stop the relationship from developing sexually as far as I am concerned. The rubber could never be removed ever. I wouldn't judge someone in advance though. That goes against my general principles.

I watched something about male escorts in England before. The most successful one was a guy who was middle aged and just looked like someones Dad. Just a very ordinary (actually really boring) bloke.
He wouldn't say if he had Sex or not with these woman but I'm sure he did.
He went with them to a lot of parties and things. He made great money from it.

    No, hell no.
Be it past or present. An escort is a whore.

Yeah, sure you hear the odd genuine case of someone having to resort to it. Or the unfortunate sex slaves that get brought over. But lets take the average irish escort. Aint doing it out of the aforementioned.

I always wondered how someone became an escort ... where are jobs advertised? I'm assuming there are agencies ....

And no I would not date an escort - former or otherwise, I'm a jealous bítch haha, the thoughts of any fellah I'm with being with someone else makes me so jealous it's not even funny! (I try not to dwell on it haha)

Out of curiosity, did the guy escort men or women?

    I wouldn't anyways.

    .

When I was living in New Jersey I used to know this fairly fat, little Columbian fellah who lived a few houses down the street. I'd say he was in his mid 30's or so. Got chatting to him one day about work and turn's out that he was an escort. He was very matter of fact about it. No idea whether he was straight sex only or gay also or whatever but just couldn't believe that's what he did. Most unlikely person ever.

If you're a male escort I'd say you probably can't be too picky.

Not all escorts are hookers. There was a girl in college with me who worked for an agency and they made it clear to the clients that the girls would only provide them with company for dinner, business functions etc. Sleeping with a client was a sacking offence.
They also provided a chaperone who stayed near enough to provide the girls with assistance if the client insisted on "extra services"

Well the internet has helped alot of women become an escort these days. Sure there is irish escort sites that for a monthly fee you can be advertised with all your contact info.

But before the internet took off (say late 90s) magazines such as 'In Dublin' famously had escort adverts in last few pages. It got so well known that the magazine was told to stop publishing those adverts from the guards/government.

Nearly all "escort" agencies say that all the women are merely providing 'company' for the time specified and anything "else" that goes on is between two consenting adults, aka sex.

Now not every client would need or want sex as you pointed out, some might literally just need a bit of arm candy for the fancy dinner or whatever. But sex is generally always in the picture.
