    Hi all,

I am 5'8 and started my diet at 178lb last January. My target is 140lb.
I've broken the latest plateau and I am now losing a steady 2lb a week and am set to hit my target by New Year or thereabouts- I am 147lb now.

Firstly I know that this time of year is probably the worst to be on any kind of diet with Christmas and everything but I was so bad all year, dieting during the week and falling off the wagon every weekend so now I have finally started behaving myself and the weight is almost all gone I want to see this out til the end.

My question is, how do I transition from weight loss to maintenance? I know I probably shouldn't go back to the full maintenance-rate calorie intake at the very start right? The only exercise I do is the walk to work and back (1 hour walking per day) which I will be keeping up, but I have been thinking of taking up weights class/swimming at the gym to tone up my muscles, so that will hopefully keep my metabolism fast and I can eat more calories also as I'll be burning more?

*Note- as I say I know this time of year is the worst for dieting, but please don't discourage me- I'm so close now to my target and am dying to hit the January Sales to buy new clothes to celebrate!!!*

it's a bit tricky but it's a learning curve:) i reached goal last April and am now 11lbs under my goal weight which is where i want to stay,,i upped my points by about 2 or 3 extra a day,,still use most of my weeklies and still have the odd blowout but i have also learned in order not to put back on the 3 and half stone i lost i must not carry my blowout onto extra days as before i know it i'd be back onto eating crap fulltime!!!best of luck with it:D
