Should we eat the dead?

    Just a thought...

Considering the fact that humans are going to find it a lot harder to produce enough food to feed themselves as time progresses shouldn't we consider eating the dead!?

In fairness, think about how much meat are we burying every year and all the energy we put into growing that meat, would it not make more sense to reduce our dependance on livestock? It would open up a whole new food source.

I'm not talking about eating our relatives or anything (that would be just wierd) just properly prepared disease free meat (dry aged and slow cooked).

    Some potential recipes:

    Chinese stir fry,
    Full Irish,
    Brazil nuts,
    American Pie.
    Vegetarian Lasagne/sausages/pie.

    Well??

    Who's with me?

Wouldn't the meat be terrible unless we deliberately slaughtered the humans at the correct time?

It would be wrong and unhealthy to eat dead people. I say cull to your desired taste while they are healthy.

Nah, a lot of people die in hospitals and go fairly quickly into morgues, so would be extremely fresh. Obviously we wouldn't eat people that died of old age. That'd be gross. Only the prime stock.

    that's more like it.

welcome to AH. you'll fit in just fine. :D

Can't really see this one being practical, even though it'd be good from an environmental point of view by cutting down on graveyard-sprawl, pollution from crematoria, etc. The problem is that despite our best & most valiant efforts to do ourselves in from beer, cigs & fries most Irish people live into their sixties at least. I reckon anyone over 30 - 35 or so is going to be pretty much inedible, tough as old boots basically.

The practical result is that you'll be drawing from a fairly small number of potential carcasses since young people are less likely to die. With the odd exception of a tragic illness the supply of suitable human flesh is thus most likely to come from boy-racers who've wrapped themselves round a telegraph pole. Now while the product in these cases would be pretty fresh & training emergency personnel in the basic field butchery skills needed to procure it would be relatively easy I can't really see the general public wanting to consume meat so heavily flavoured with WKD & metamphetamines as it would undoubtedly be.

    From the charter
This forum has been variously described as a refuge for idiots, the dregs of boards.ie, the best forum on boards and the only forum on boards. As such you may find After Hours quite different to any other boards.ie forums. What's OK here may not fly elsewhere on boards.

If you dont like whats posted dont follow the thread, simples.
