Chocolate on low carb diet

Hi I've been following a low carb diet and have cut out all bread potatoes rice pasta etc. have made a conscious effort to avoid all processed foods with added sugar but recently I have gotten into the habit of eating a mini bar or a piece of chocolate in the evenings, it's happening way more often than it should but just wondering what kind of damage this will do? I know in the primal blueprint it says to adopt an 80/20 percent attitude to eating cleanly but in the idiot proof diet it warns that if you slip up you will end up puting on weight because of all the fat you are eating, which of these is true?

Also, im working and studying so don't get much time for exercise at the moment, was doing a weights class and a bit of running but with exams at the mo I'm delighted if I have time to go out for a walk. Should I be eating a high fat and low carb diet if I'm fairly sedentary at the mo, will I actually be able to burn the fat?

    Thanks

    Jammie

Have you tried dark chocolate yet? Get something over 70%, with the higher the % the better. I eat paleo/primal/low carb and occasionally enjoy the dark choc.

Lidl do 81% stuff which is great value. I usually get that or some 85% stuff in Dunnes. Got some 90% in Tesco before and it was grand.

Along as its a treat and not a diet staple you should be fine.

    Hope this helps.

If it is ONE piece of chocolate and you are able to continue losing weight then I'd say it's ok.

If it were me I would do better without it because I tend to keep picking away when I eat even a small amount of junkfood.

Very dark chocolate is okay on a low carb diet. I used to love the 99% stuff, which is full of antioxidents and no sugar. And I defy anyone to binge on it.

I got the 81% stuff from lidl. Its lovely and really keeps me sane when having something with a cuppa. As was mentioned its very hard to binge on it, I only have one square a day. If you dont like dark choc, just try it and you will become acustomed to the taste and begin to really enjoy it. More so than milk choc, which I could never stand anyway!
