What is the point in having an official behind the line if he is that inept that he cant see a ball is over the line 4 feet in front of him.

    What a goal for Atletico!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,006 ✭✭✭✭Zebra3

Rovers looked very good going forward in the first half, but their defence has been very poor.

The ball may well have been out of play for the fourth Rubin goal, but wtf was the defender doing knocking the ball back across his own goal?

On Sky? UPC don't block it but Sky do

    Taken from ESPN FAQ's;
Why can’t I watch the Europa League in Ireland?

ESPN currently holds the right to show the Europa League in the UK only. Please check News & Updates for the latest news.

Another defeat for Rovers. Learning curve though. Being on this stage will help players get better. Hopefully 1 or 2 Irish clubs playing at this stage will become the norm.

Metalist and Atletico Madrid are through.

Birmingham have to win with Club Brugge losing in the next match to go through.

Celtic must beat Udinese in Italy in the next match to get through.

With Malmo's draw against AZ Alkmaar, Shamrock Rovers and AEK Athens are the only team to fail to pick up a point so far.

Anderlecht are the only team that has picked up maximum points.

Edited: for reasons of not seeing Group L!

Feel for the players. Since we made the groups, they have either had to deal with too many fixtures or now, having not played competitively in a month.

Hopefully some lessons learned but I feel spurs will also do the same.

If you have Sky sign up for Sky Go, you can watch any ESPN ROI blocked games on that, quality stream.

    Harry must be delighted.

PAOK and Rubin appear to be the two qualifers from this group almost by default. Rovers can't qualify, Spurs don't want to.

i wonder, if irish teams start to consistantly make europe i could see the start of the league being delayed by a month. heres hoping!

    Kinda balancing act but.

The summer season increases the chances of an Irish club pulling off an ambush in the qualifiers but getting to the group stages means a fixture pile up when the euro oppo start getting match fit...and then what you have now: playing the last two games with no match practice.

Kinda strange feeling after the game. 4-1 flattered Rubin, especially for the first 50 minutes. Yet it accurately reflects the difference between the two sides.

The off the ball running and use of width is so far out of LOI class. However at least two of the goals were mistakes in not clearing the ball or not stepping up or goalkeeping mistakes. Hardest game of the group against the best team in the group at our weakest point of the season.

4 to 1 also helped figure out how many fur-capped police officers were around us (yet only three of the in away section and the flags blocked the view of the rest), how many fans entered the ground with Rovers scarves/caps and came out with Rubin scarves and helped count how many toes were left on each foot after the game.:pac:

Stoke are great to watch, especially after watching United lately! 1-1 at the moment with minutes to go, should be going through now!

    EDIT: Yup, last 16!

What is going on with the pitch at the britannia stadium anyone know?

Did they make it bigger or something? Just flicked on and it looks weird

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,528 ✭✭✭✭dsmythy

With the one series to go the current situation for the round of 32:

    Definitely seeded

    Standard Liege
    PSV Eindhoven
    Sporting Lisbon
    Athletic Bilbao
    Metalist Kharkiv
    Schalke
    FC Twente

    Definitely unseeded

    Hannover
    Legia Warsaw

    Qualified, seeding unknown

    PAOK
    Stoke City
    Braga
    Lokomotiv Moscow
    Anderlecht
    Atletico Madrid

The faded green-tinted lines mirroring the pitch markings are because the Europa League demands a standardised pitch size. The Britannia Stadium's surface currently has one set of lines for Europa League games, which require set dimensions, and another (much smaller) version for top flight games, when there is no set size.

Can teams from the same country draw each other in the last 32?

If so, I hope Stoke avoid a Man City, Man United or Chelsea.

They can't draw a team from the same country.

I suppose they are at the lower limit of the allowed dimensions
