There are doubt whether that Paul Wade guy who wrote convict conditioning is a real person, i.e. it is just some fitness guy with a pseudonym posing as an ex con.

the writer also claims to have done a dozen freestanding one arm handstand pushups. A gymnastics coach for the US team said he has never witnessed or heard of any person capable of a single one, even with support, let alone 12 freestanding. The same coach knows a guy that did 163 free standing full ROM HSPU on parrallel bars. The guy who runs beastskills is in the photos in the book and shows him apparently doing them(with support), but I think he admitted he could not do them.

The problem with this is they list doing 1 as a "beginner standard" so people might be training hard to try and acheive something that nobody might have ever done before.

It does seem fishy. Read somewhere that they reckoned DuCaine wrote the thing. Even the name "Paul Wade" might as well be "John Smith". Found this there now http://kbforum.dragondoor.com/kettlebells-strength-conditioning-forum/139656-okay-why-did-we-call-convict-conditioning.html

I read somewhere that the guy who posed for demonstration photographs for that book is the guy who has beastskills.com. I think he has said openly that even he couldn't actually do some of the movements in the book - they shot them at the top, at the bottom etc. with him holding the positions for the shots.

T-Nation did an article about prison training a while back (a 2 parter) http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance_investigative/training_behind_bars_i (Not work / family safe)

I'm not sure I like the idea of prisoners coming out bigger and stronger than they went in.

These guys cant be getting much protein..american prison food is notoriously full of bread and starch with mystery meat on special occasions only.

Just goes to show a lot of whats taken as read on forums doesnt always apply in the real world.

The bigger guys probs eat all the lil ones' food - that's the only logical explanation.

I imagine that if someone has the ingenuity to make knives out of toilet seats and traffic heroin into prison then sourcing a few scoops of whey can't be that much of a problem!

Exactly. Bronson was on solitary for 90% of his life and he's built like a tank.

Is that in all prisons or just that Texan tent camp one?

The food in federal prisons is actually better than the food in most Public schools. One of the issues raised by the author of "fast food nation" was that the grade of meat used in elementary schools was below the minimum grade allowed in prisons.

I am sure there are no shortage of drug addicts they can buy food from as well.
