weight 11 and a half stone aprox
    Aim - to gain mass

    Hey all,

I have decided to start a new program in the gym and thought I would post it here for some feedback first.
I have been lifting for a couple of years on and off depending on my location wether access to a gym was possible.

    This i what I'm considering:

    3 days a week
Full body workout consisting of 5x5 for each body part though thinking of doing two different exercises for my chest each session as it would be my weakest.

    All exercises to be compound (apart from DB flies) picked from the following list;

    Chest

    DB flat bench
    DB incline
    DB flies

*sticking to dumb bells as no spotter available to go heavy with bar.

    Back

    Bent over BB row
    T-bar row
    Upright row
    Lat pull down
    One arm DB rows
    Assisted pull up

    Shoulders

    BB shoulder press
    Shoulder press machine
Front/side/rear delt flies - all done together
    Shrugs

Legs (note no squat rack only a smith machine and not a big fan of them)

    Deadlifts
    Goblet (front) squats
    Static lunges

    Workout examples

    Workout A

    Deadlifts
    DB chest press
    BB shoulder press
    Bent over BB row
    DB flies
    Core work

    Workout B

    Goblet (front) squats
    DB incline
    Front/side/rear delt flies
    DB flies
    Lat pull down
    Core wok

    And so forth......
I will be picking whichever exercise for each body part on the day depending on what equipment is available and what I feel like.

Not doing any biceps or tricep isolation work as figure they will be getting enough of a workout anyway.

I get about 2300 calories a day for my not very clean diet but will be adding mutant mass to my diet as well (the name alone sold me on this one:))

I won't be doing any extra cardio work apart from the sports I play.

So if anyone has any feedback at all it would be much appreciated.

    All the best

    well,
first of all i'd say you should get your diet sorted first as you say yourself its not very clean. at 6 ft 2 and only over 11st you at very light for your height so diet is alot more important than your workout routine imo. also there are a lot better gainer then mutant mass in particular real food.

regarding your workout i won't comment too much as i personally i don't like full body work outs especially three times a week per muscle group as it could lead to over training too easily and hinder gains and cause injury etc..i'd personally just go with a regular 3/4 day split. like chest/tris....back/core....shoulders/bis...legs/core which will leave three rest days which gives plenty time to grow.
    just my opinion!

    Cheers for the reply!

Yeah the diet part is one thing im well aware of. When i say its not that clean does'nt mean its crap though. I a trying to eat eat eat and some times it ain't all "good" foods.
I know the whole thing about food being better than supplements and fully agree however i do believe they are handy pre-workout or post or whenever as long as they are not replacing a meal.

With regards split routines, i have done them in the past and plan to do them in the future but i do think my body responds better to the more frequent workout of the muscle groups involved in a full body.

Good point about over training. It was one of the reasons i posted it here to see if people thought that may be an issue.

Any other advice or questions shoot away :)
