While about and about? Wallets, key, games, whatever. When I was 14, I saved up for ages to buy one of the new Silver DS lites, left it on the train 2 days later >.< Gutted I was

My dignity. Too many times. A bunch of knackers robbed my Nokia 3310 on Christmas Day when I was 12 before. That made me very sad.

My bus pass (about 10 times), three coats (one of them dozens of times), a jumper, my phone (quite a few times), my passport, my glasses. Mostly due to intoxication.

I've never had anything stolen from me, except for house burglaries. I was once stopped (when with a few mates) by a huge group of lads, and one went through my pockets. Even though I had my wallet in my pocket, he didn't take anything

I've done that. Bought a cool Nokia flip phone a few years ago and, about a half an hour later, left it in the dressing room in Penneys (the only place I could shop after spending most of my money on a phone). But, I was very lucky. Realised I had left it behind and went racing back and somebody had handed it to the girl working in the dressing rooms. There's decent peoples out there!

It fell into a nightclub sink a few days later and never recovered. Win some, lose some!!! :p

My entire premier league album I'd spent a fortune on when I was in 3rd or 4th class. Same with a remote control car. Still though, finding out the prime suspect has been in and out of prison since then has provided some solace.

A gorgeous purple coat was robbed in Coppers
Left a deadly phone in Diceys
Tiffany necklace fell off my neck then one night
Purse robbed on the bus last year with a load of cash in it

So many things on this list....
I always think Id love to wish them all back.
But then I'd have a load of crap in my living room

A had the most amazing rainbow scarf ever a few years ago, I left it at the hairdressers and some dickhead stole it. I've never gotten over it.

a sony PSP and all the UMD discs taken out of their covers-stolen by a support staff at a previous residential home that used to live in.
social services just covered it up and moved her to another home.
at the time it was being used as a communication aid; as the laptop was damaged and it was also being used for internet access so was left cut off from the outside world and from family.
if it had been an outsider or family who had stolen it they woud have gotten social worker and the police in,as proven by previous experiences with them.

have had lots of treasured stuff lost-or nicked during the process of it being moved from the last residential to current one,was not living there when the stuff was moved and there were bin bags full of stuff gone, people think they were just dumped due to being in bin bags.
things like laminated certificates for having graduated an ASDAN course-which meant a lot due to being useless at the academic side and never having gained anything else...one white label and one yellow label steiff bears [white=rare & limited edition, yellow=regular edition]...a whole set of painted warhammer forty k tyrannids and a partly painted set of warhammer skaven rats, plus the tools, paints, glue and a big pot of warhammer sand for the stands.
-was totaly put off doing warhammer again as the amount of effort, money and time that had gone into all that was lost.

for some reason or other I seem to have rotten luck with vehicles.
Got a car robbed once whilst living as a student in Belfast. Just woke up next morning to find an empty parking space where my beloved Vauxhall SR Nova once was!
Had number plates robbed off my Jeep, here in Kildare.
Had family car ransacked for valuables in Dublin .

Apart from that though, i've been lucky enough not to have much robbed from me apart from the odd tin/bottle of booze from communal fridges in hostels in Australia.

I had in year 6, one of them gameboy colours with pikachu on it, and a brand new copy of pokemon crystal  And I was going to after school club, and all electronic devices had to be left in the bags outside, when we came back at like, 6 I think it was, a load of stuff was missing. My gameboy, a few other gameboys, a first mobile phone, very small amounts of money(cos we were kids) School claimed they had no way to tell who was it was, till this kid came in the next day with a load of gameboys, same games, mobile phone, and money, claiming 'his uncle came back from hong kong and gave them to him'......

Years ago, (2001-2003), I was going to galway with a sister (or two) + her friend. Got a GBA that christmas (the original line, was before the SP I assume) the friend was messing and had taken some of the games .. and then she lost one - Lord of the Rings 2

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,835 ✭✭✭✭cloud493

Yeah we got them back. We told the teacher, who asked him, who told her the same thing, who called his mum, who said 'What uncle, he doesn't have any' so he got suspended :D

Oh i forgot the worst ever...

left a camera in a tiny pub in slovenia with 3000+ photos on it from the previous 5 weeks of interrailing, and the barmen stole it.

    I was devastated...

(no i didn't back them up as we were on the move so much)

    3 motorbikes stolen.
    About 70 DVD's & CD's, some clothes, a backpack, gloves, phone & €300 during a burglary.
A bicycle that was stolen 30 seconds after I locked it to a pole and walked into a shop.
A Christmas tree that I had in work which was stolen by a manager and returned 4 years later saying that they only just noticed my name on a label attached to the stand. They thought the company owned it...like that mattered.

A bag with my disco outfit - revealing dress, slapper heels and a gorgeous foundation in 'golden caramel' when my real colour was ivory. I left the shop where I bought it, wandered into the next, poked around for a few minutes and left without my bag. How did I do that?
In a frantic rush I ran around like a bloody headless chicken and even managed to ask the staff had they seen it. They hadn't :( I had to purchase a new golden caramel foundation.

    Another one:
I remember in 5th class of primary school, there was a football blitz or something on. I don't really do sport, so had no football boots. One of the teachers loaned me one of their son's football boots. I left them there, realised a few minutes after getting on the bus .

I had a Motorola V620 mobile stolen out of my bag when working in a new school in Newcastle West. It must have been one of the other contractors as the school hadn't opened to students at the time.

Standing in Lr Abbey St today , across from Wynn's hotel, A scobe on a bike whizzed passed & snatched my phone right out of my hand. A 2-week old HTC sensation, gone.

Apparently this crime is on the increase... Garda at store st. helpful & sympathetic, he reckoned it would be sold off in an hour or two.

I feel a bit stupid writing this - but hopefully it will act as a useful warning for others.

From experience, 99% of small-scale non-confrontational theft is opportunistic. Most people are not security-conscious in the least.

It has also been my great pleasure to intervene in two attempted thefts, in broad daylight, and stop the thefts.

My watch (present from an ex) on the tram. I was standing and holding onto the rail and someone must have popped the clasp, it was rush hour and I didn't notice.

Couple of months later I was in the Carribbean where jewellers are really cheap and bought a much nicer one, same brand but with a safety clasp. WAAAAAAY prefer it, and it was a present to myself :D.
