A score draw here I'd say given City played midweek

Be happy with a point to be honest

I think liverpool win today, coming off a big win last sunday and city coming off a huge loss midweek.

It is after all Anfield anyway

provided we dont lose 6-1 at home their should be no issue:P

If Liverpool score first I would be confident of a win/draw. If City score first I will be hoping it doesn't reach 6-1. Thread should be interesting anyway.

Everything really points to a draw on this one.

Liverpool keeping the same team as against Chelsea makes sense as they'll need to do a similar job, being good defensively and counter attacking suits them and the pressure will be of them at Anfield for a change. I'd go for Kelly at RB but Johnson had a decent game last week. Can't see any reason to bring back Downing or Carroll. Bellamy will be up for it as he always is against former clubs!

    Some stats:
Liverpool are unbeaten in 9 but 3 straight draws at home and have the joint best defensive record with City.

Liverpool are City's bogey team, they've only win 1 of the last 12 matches and 1 in 20 Away games. Liverpool are the last team to keep a clean sheet against City in the PL, they've scored 52 in 18 games since!

Although i would like to see a closer title race, I hope City pummel them.

Liverpool will win, I've already put money on Suarez to score any time.

That's true all three teams had phenomenal records against City

Liverpool 2/1 with terry rogers at home v city is a huge price & Suarez 13/2 1st goal I'm all over that....

Fancy the pool to win 2-1 in a cracking game....

C'mon Liverpool. Do it for Fergie.

    What?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

Thinking a draw for this one myself, can see City's pace causing us an awful lot of problems.

Hopefully Suarez is on form as he's been off the boil in the last two matches against Chelsea and Swansea.

Not sure about today but looking at the league table has us favourites for this but ya never know.

    Pool- City
    Pts 22 34
    GD +3 +31

Just hope to god that we don't fall apart!!

Anyone have any lineup new yet?

Would be happy with any points against City, but I had a weird dream last night in which Liverpool won the game by one goal with Henderson getting a goal

Don't think I have ever had a footy dream in my life before that, so am hoping I am now a prophet :D

Anyone think the terrible news about gary speed will have an effect on our team selection today ie bellemy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,588 ✭✭✭daithijjj

Not sure Bellamy will take part in the game today now after the sad news of Gary Speed.

Bellamy may not have been in starting 11 but on the bench but he defo won't miss the game, out of respect he would want to play & score for Gary speed RIP!

Will and should this game go ahead now?
Yes and no imo, some things more important than football, but possibly too late notice.

Without trying to come across as insensitive...why would it be cancelled?

Happy with a draw, over the moon with a win, but still happy with 3 points from Chelsea and City to be honest - if we lose.

I'm not making any more of an argument over this lads.

A discussion between officials has taken place for the Swans Villa game and was decided to go ahead with game so it wouldnt have been unusual for this to be called off.

I thought it would only happen if he had been involved with either club. Swansea being a Welsh club is understandable...couldn't see it having any effect on this game.

City's Premier League results after Champions League games

    Fulham 2 City 2
    Blackburn 0 City 4
    Man Utd 1 City 6
    QPR 2 City 3

4 away games and 10 points from 12

not looking good for Liverpool ;)

Initially i think it was talked about because there are welsh players in both squads for that game, anyway, game goes ahead now.

    Edit.

A spokesman has just said on the radio that the Premier League gave permission to Swansea to decide whether the game went ahead.

The Swansea game is going ahead. I must say I thought both games could have been cancelled.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,181 ✭✭✭Iang87

i'm surprised there was even talk of the game not going ahead. Look at the player he was he would never have wanted a game called off.

Jesus will the game ever hurry on, longest sunday morning ever

Im seeing a few saying on twitter now that Craig Bellamy has omitted himself from todays squad due to personal reasons.

Well... this thread took a surreal twist.

Anyway, mon City, 1 - 6 please. Aguero with 3, Kompany with 2 and all assisted by Silva thank you very much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

Hearing Bellamy is out from today's game which is a shame, was looking forward to seeing him against his old club.

Completely understandable though, somethings are, and have to be, bigger than a football match.
