I had avg anti virus free edition but it won't update so I'm running avast anti-virus instead.

I can't remove AVG though through the add/remove applications and i consistently get this avgmgr.exe - application error window popping up which is extremely annoying.

anyone know how i can get rid??

btw i presume avast is sufficient for minimal surfing

    Download avgremover http://www.avg.com/us-en/utilities

    Simples! ;)

I presume you have firewall running also? Whether you're a heavy or 'minimal' user, you still need to protect your PC fully....and Avast is a good anti-virus program. Just don't use 2 AV programs together.

I use Comodo Internet Security (which includes the AV program so you don't need Avast). You shouldn't run 2 AV programs. You can just download Comodo Firewall though. See the sticky on main page.
