Going to be getting the note myself.

Amazon.de have the best price at the moment at €513 ad whatever delivery is to Ireland, As far as I know they delivery to Ireland. There are also some decent prices on ebay aswell.

Mainly getting it because of the resolution and a 5.3" size device is perfect for me. Also the wacom looks amazing.

***Edit***, Forgot to add, Three said they might be getting the Note, But if they are, It will be after the new year.

If you are going to be getting it best get a move on, Germany has a 19% VAT rate, ours is 21%, if they are like amazon.co.uk they will change the vat rate to 21% so you'll be paying more anyway, but we're about to go up again to 23%, not a huge jump but worth mentioning none the less

I got one from Expansys two weeks ago, best phone I've had, would never go back to smaller screen now, plus found stylus works well for taking notes

Highly recommend getting a case to protect it, I found the official case on eBay and its very good.

A few days ago got OTT 2.3.6 update, cant want for ICS though!

Got mine last week from Germany, handyshop.de, was €499 plus delivery, much cheaper than clove, handytec or expansys.

The screen size and resolution are amazing as are the pen features.

Hi, do they have an English site and did you use any discount code for that price as it comes up as 512,99 € now.

Just used Google translate in Chrome. Yes price gone up to same as on amazon, i'd order from amazon.de if i could as the only payment option i had with handyshop.de was bank transfer which worked out fine but made me nervous! Took over a week to arrive after payment.

Ordered myself from amazon.de a couple of weeks ago. Ordered on a Saturday night and had it in my hands on the Tuesday evening. Actually took less than 24 hours to arrive as it didn't ship till the Monday night and was shipped by ups. I'll be keeping an eye on amazon.de for all future purchases rather than amazon.co.uk

    How much was the shipping?

I didn't place the order yet but the shipping came up as €15 I think on the final confirmation page.

Got the note, loving the note.

Anyone thinking of getting it, Don't hesitate, You will love it.

I'm actually shocked by how good the battery life is even with the high resolution screen 5.3" screen.

It's hard to believe there is over 1 million pixels on a screen of that size!!

I'm trying to order one from Amazon.de but I keep getting an error saying it cannot be shipped to the destination of my choice. What did you guys use for the zip code or P/O code ? I've tried Ireland, NA, None, a blank, . , but to no avail.

Change the seller to Amazon.de and it will work. It shows the lowest price by default I think so price will go up when you switch the seller to Amazon (ie €514 atm)

Brilliant, thank you so much ! I hadn't noticed that it was by some other seller, all the German was doing my head in.

Ordered a sandisk 64GB microsd off a seller on amazon.de came in at under €100. Works in the Note.

I got it ordered from Amazon.de last Tuesday evening and it arrived on Thursday, super service !

As for the phone, it's a great piece of kit. Compared with my Nokia N8 the camera is rubbish, music doesn't sound as good, and I'm sorely missing an fm transmitter and free offline navigation.

Niggles are - maybe the power button could be placed on top, and there seems to be a lot of vertical bands visible mostly on greyish backgrounds such as when the Market is opening.

I don't wish to sound too negative though, this is a phenomenal piece of kit! As a simple phone, and even for gps and camera, my N8 is still better, but as an extremely portable converged device for working with documents, showing pics and movies and general internet browsing this thing is simply in another league, far superior to anything I've used.

I'm completely new to Android so all I've done so far is root it and managed to find newer stock f/w which I updated via a pc app called Odin. Plus installed Go Launcher and changed to that, got Titanium backing up to Dropbox, installed a firewall and other geeky things. I haven't touched any custom roms yet as I don't know what they're on about in the descriptions - deodexing etc, wtf :confused::D

Oh, anyone know how to stop apps from running a process in the background even though they're not running ? E.g. the Facebook app runs a process and no matter how many times I shut it down it restarts itself. Plus some apps such as K9mail seem to be able to bypass my firewall whitelist :( Minor niggles though.

I've done that ten dozen times, but it keeps starting back up again. I've changed it's settings to never refresh, turned off notifications (just in case) and force stopped it, but a short while later it's back again. It's a shame as it's actually a good app otherwise, but I think I'll uninstall it and just use the browser.

Hi guys, can u tell me if you have any issues with WiFi and bluetooth when screen is off? I'm going to buy this phone but I use a lot of bluetooth and WiFi for music and would like to know If you notice anything strange, I mean sleeping policy. Also, is there an option to view pages in desktop view only? And the last one, do you have an option in mobile network settings to choose wcmda only? Thanks ;-)

    Very nice phone.
Im coming from a Galaxy S and never got the S2.

I also have the Galaxy tab 10.1 so this note is somewhere in between.

Originally I thought "wow--this is trigger happy tv huge--http://www.noob.us/humor/trigger-happy-tv-giant-cell-phone-prank/)" but I find that its actually very good.

Im not a voracious phone call user but I do consume a lot of data--twitter/emails/pulse etc and this is perfect for that wrt screensize.

Havent used the stylus but being lefthanded it was nice to see they do offer the option to change the "orientation" for the stylus itself.

Battery life is ridiculously good. I charged it once, 3 days ago and havent turned it off. I do use the power saving mode but havent changed the settings at all. Battery life is at 28% right now.

My Galaxy wasnt this good on battery--I had juicedefender installed and stil this Note is staying alive longer.

A phone with a Wacom digitizer is a fantasy I thought could never possibly come true. Whoever stocks it is my next provider.

Got mine about a week ago, really liking it, everything is so fast and it seems no expense has been spared on any of the hardware.

I actually had a Galaxy nexus for a week but returned it as there was a checkered pattern visible at low light settings. The size of that convinced me that the Note would fit in my pocket :)

Anyone any recommendations on apps that utilise the big screen?

Games obviously look great, Teamviewer works better than on my old Nexus one, tempted by photoshop too

Got my note today! Very impressive. Its huge but it a good way. Got it off phonesonline.ie. Took only 2 days to ship out so not too bad!

Going from a HTC Desire so the size was daunting at first!

One limitation i find with my xperia play is that even with app2sd there are certain things that insist on staying in phone memory ,which is 400mb and i currently only have about 40mb free.

Would i be right in suggesting that the 16/32gb internal storage on the galaxy note would eliminate this problem?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48 Doubt.It

Well it's got to help. The Note has over a Gig of memory reserved for apps - 1.7GB I think. So even if you were restricted to that, it's more than four times as much. The Xperia Play seems criminally short of memory.

And when it gets Ice Cream Sandwich - promised by Samsung for March - there will no longer be a distinction between app memory and general storage. You'll be able to use it all for apps.

What are peoples opinions of the Note after having used it for a while?
I've seen reviews where the reviewer says you get used to the size of it pretty quickly. Would you agree with that. I'm considering one as my next upgrade but would need to see one in the shop first I think. How does it feel as a day-to-day phone.

I would 100% agree with that, In fact it's how i have described the device to others.

When i first got it, I taught, WOW that's big, Have i made a mistake.

Now, I'm like HELL NO, I couldn't live without it, No smartphone should have a smaller screen in my opinion, I can't understand how I even used previous devices.

I came from a Galaxy S2, Which is amazing and exactly what people should look at if they think the Note is too big, Or perhaps the Galaxy Nexus

That being said, The Note is only big once, Then after about an hour, If just feels right!!

Well, the battery in the Note has 2500Mha (has almost the double capacity)... 2-3 days with heavy usage

    mathie wrote: »

Sorry Mathie, I never got an email that someone posted.

Anyway, the battery life is amazing, considering the size of the screen, resolution and the CPU is clocked faster, I was expecting a much lower lifetime or at least the same. The battery lasts even longer than that of the sgs2.

    I guess a 2500mAh battery goes a long way.

    It's taking so long... :(

Vodafone didn't believe the Galaxy Note would be the success it is, and 4 months later than other countries, might be too late...

Yeah the huge delay in stocking the Note has probley killed it off as you would have to be a bit nuts or have a very unique reason to pick it over the likes of the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy 3 phones.

Someone could argue that although the Galaxy Note processor is not as good, still has some advantages against the OneX:
    - s-pen and a lot of great apps for it
    - slightly better resolution
    - supports micro-sd cards expansion up to 64GB (OneX doesn't support memory expansion)
    - removable battery (Cannot remove the battery of OneX )
    - huge developer community support
    - the small tablet form factor (bigger screen) could be an advantage for some
    - boot-unlocked (Custom ROMs and beta versions easy to install)
    - easy network unlock (Free apps from the Android Market)
    - a lot of free goodies from Samsung in SamsungApps (paid apps free, paid games free, movies, other content...)
    - ...

Considering the OneX has a Tegra3 quad-core (actually 5 cores) vs. the 2 cores in the Note and the build quality is the best, the price should be a differentiation factor - i.e. the galaxy Note shall be a lot cheaper than the OneX when this arrives.

It's the most expensive phone Vodafone ever had! more expensive than the iPhone 4s!

600Eur network locked on Vodafone prepay - it's on sale unlocked in a lot of stores for ~500.

Agreed nCoder, complete and utter madness. At this rate there will be no point in waiting for contract deals with any of the Irish operators. The phone is no longer a new release and they are asking that ridiculous price. Get with the programme Vodafone!!!

It will most definitely be a sim free Galaxy SIII for me now...
