windows 7 installation

    hey i re-installed windows 7 64bit on my laptop

    but the resources cd i had to get from dell , looks like its missing a few programs and im not sure what i have to install from the disc , theres loads of drivers , do i install every one ??

    Go to "www.dell.ie" support web site (if you can from your laptop,if not any PC and use a USB key/disk),type your serial/tag number ,then follow the list of available applications listed under your model.Download them and while saving,give them friendly names.Install first the chipset drivers,restart ,then all others,no matter what order...

    All drivers has to be installed,but Win7 is quite good in detecting hardware these days !
    Just make sure you select Win7 64 bits if system will not recognise your tag ...

    don't install ALL drivers - check the video / wifi matches the name found in device manager

    Dell are particularly annoying in listing zillions of Wifi drivers that may not apply to a particular machine :(

    Or insert the driver CD , go to Device Manager and right-click/Update Driver any items with a yellow triangle on them . If the correct driver is on the disc Windows should find it .
