Via your Wii, your PS3 move, your xbox Kinetic, your web cam on your lap top.

    You are being watched.

There are actually programs out there that let you see people via their notebook web cams.

If you look at google earth and think it cool, then think about how cool the military version is.................

I've just mooned at my Xbox.

A devastating brief flash of my hairy arse is a more than adequate strident riposte to the invasive, socio-technological, panoptical arm of The System.

nothing new there paranoid AHer,the technology has been around for years- its a remote administration tool, interweb perverts who call themselves hackers [:D] install a RAT server onto someones computer in various easy ways and heroicaly e-perve day and night on people as they pick their nose/scratch their arse/ scream while slamming their fist on their keyboard because they lost on some mmorpg.

yeah...just stick a suitably sized plaster or something else over the laptop webcam lens [there are programs in linux which can warn if the webcam is being used remotely] and take it off only when needed, use the web browser via sandboxie to be extra paranoid and cautious against java drive bys that can install RAT servers [depending on OS],
check list of processes to make sure there are nothing that shoud be there and even check those that look official.
alternatively, sod all that throw a linux distro on the hard drive and learn the metasploit framework to get back at the muppets who think they are god for RATing and messing with someones computer.
exceedingly long waffle over and out.

I've got one of those Nielsen ratings boxes hooked up to my TV and get paranoid sometimes when stoned; that they are listening to me. That's how the boxes actually work, by listening into the audio played through the speaker of your TV and identifying it.

I'd say they have some craic trying to identify a lot of the shit I watch though :pac:

This thread got me thinking :pac:

We all know anyone that has a good enough skill to hack can watch your webcam feed if its plugged in. So I wonder if a hacker has ever blackmailed someone? :P

Some husband jerking off on cam to someone else :P .. Sounds stupid but I wonder if it has actually happened.

Why in Gods name would anyone want to watch me when I’m on the computer? I’m not exactly a danger to society and although I am obviously ravishingly good looking I don’t think anyone would get too much enjoyment out of watching me watch movies on my laptop.

Also this is an Irish website not American, so I wouldn’t think that our military version of google earth is anything other then google earth. True if I was worried about any government looking for me I might not use these things but as I’m not other then maybe making sure my laptop is closed if I have a lady in my bed I don’t see how this would affect me.

*Puts sticker over laptop cam* Take that technology!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,741 ✭✭✭✭bodhrandude

The technology used back in the 80s by the British army is an eye opener, multi-directional microphones that could pick up clear conversations from 15 to 20 miles away and this was 1981 etc etc. I love Enemy of the State, a great action flick but also a chilling look at advanced eavesdropping and how you could be tracked very easily, the Bourne trilogy and the like looks at this too.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)
