lol, one of the best run business in europe, a business that is something for this country to be proud of, yet you want it to be boycotted.

if the people who made the decisions that f*cked up this country 5 years ago had the same thinking cap that o leary has, we would be still bustling now with a thriving ecomony.

but i suppose its east to criticise something that is successful, its the irish way.

Pity that if you said boo against the Celtic Tiger you were shouted down...and God forbid a UK newspaper questioned the Irish economy at that time ;)

Yes we should give ryanair free property (or at least property rental). They are such a philanthropic organisation, you can tell this when they cut an irish route every six months. I say we make ryanair the national airline, who wants to go anywhere apart from Malaga or Stansted anyway.

they cut routes to ireland cos the daa do nothing to make them stay. why should they be forced to pay the hightest fees in europe when they can fill planes from norway to poland for example, for half the price? the daa should be paying ryanair to use the airport like some places do.

Thats a mighty list of destinations, but most of them are from Dublin, and we are talking about Shannon and Cork as far as I can see. Shannon and Cork pretty much fly to the UK and Spain/Portual, the flow of tourists seems one way to me here.

As for giving Ryanair public property, I wonder once again is it the most subsidised airline in all of Europe? Back in the 1980s it railed against state subsidisation of at least one airline. Now, taxpayers' money across the EU is subsidising Ryanair and Ryanscare is more than happy to accept it.

    They're not hidden.

They're certainly not upfront, last time I flew with them (it's been a few years so it may have changed), they charged well for bags, added high taxes to the "free" flights, ridiculous priority boarding (why can't they just assign seats like proper airlines), credit card fees, at the airport then they made me check my hand luggage on because it was too large even though it was within the allowed limits and charged me for that, and also there was 4 of us flying to stansted but one of us forgot the passport so we were all charged 25 euros to check in at the desks and then another 25 sterling on the way back, there's no reason that they can't accept a form of photo Id for trips to uk, aer Lingus have no issues with this

I would rather pay the extra tenner and fly Aer Lingus. When you factor in the extra transport cost's because Ryanair airports are usually in the sticks Aer Lingus probaly works out cheaper. And there also not complete Nazi's about your cabin baggage. And did anyone ever notice landings on Ryanair aircraft are rough as fook aswell.

Booked a flight with Aer Lingus during the week. 12e handling charge, 30e ret for checked in bag and 10 ret for designated seat. Yet nobody ever seems to complain about their hidden charges...

oh i noticed, they're landings are always rough and it might just be me but ryanair can never get the cabin pressure right either, i actually thought me ears were bleeding last time

aer lingus aren't much more expensive than them really

    they charged well for bags,

It's common knowledge that they charge for bags and you're made aware of that fact when you book the flights.
    jc84 wrote: »

The flight was free, the taxes aren't, again this is common to all airlines.

You mean the optional priority boarding?

    credit card fees,

Again, very common. If you don't want to pay credit card fees then don't use a credit card to book the flight.

Ryanair specifically state that you need a passport to travel, tell your friend not to be such a fucking moron and remember his passport next time.

I've never understood the anti Ryanair brigade. Cheap flights. Only get fines if you don't adhere to their rules that enable the cheap flight. London for 20 quid? Yes please

I remember my family taking a flight in 1975 from Glasgow to Dublin, was about 300 quid each or something like that with Aer Lingus, Ryanair has never let me down anyway have used them for the last 10 years.

if youve never flown with them before, then after the second page, you pay an extra 5euro for handling fee, thats it.

ryanair are guilty of one thing - taking advantage of idiots. its clear - book your flight, print your boarding pass and have a bag less than 10kg. you get on the plane. rinse and repeat.

ive flown with them about 60 times in 2011 and not once have i paid for baggage or anything. i always had a seat, and 100% on time. i dont trust aerlingus as due to their unions, they are always likely to be late/delayed.

Last time I flew with ryanair, I found, having meaured my cabin baggage to ensure compliance before leaving home that it was pretty much lost in the checking cage at the airport so it would appear that ryanair were being very generous with what they were allowing versus what the advertised limit was.

Jesus wept. Ryanair do bumpier landings and can't do cabin pressure properly? I've read some rubbish about Ryanair, but that takes the biscuit!
If your bag is too big and you arrive at a regional airport, its not ryanairs fault, its yours for not doing research.

Ryanair are Europes biggest airline. O'Leary pays his taxes in Irelands. We should be proud of Ryanair. I am. We could do with more success stories like Ryanair. He would handle the govt wasteful spending if he was in government.

Build a bridge. You obviously had a bad experience with them which was probably your own fault. If they couldn't get cabin pressure "right" chances are people would have suffered hypoxia....don't get me started...

I have found, compared to the full service airlines that Ryanairs take off and approach is steeper that other airlines. This is to get up to cruising altitude as quickly as possible where the aircraft is most fuel efficient.

Like wise with cabin air. The captain controls the amount of fresh entering the cabin, the more fresh air the more fuel burned. If you are on a long ryanair flight you can find the change in air as soon as the door is opened upon landing. The lack of fresh air makes me uncomfortable on flights that are further than London. Flew to berlin with them once, never again.

They clearly state how much you can carry on but yet people choose to ignore it and then give out, cause they get charged for carrying extra!!
