Hope this is the right place,

I'll start by sayin I know F all about computers, anyway, the last few weeks my laptop has slowed considerably, mainly when running windows media player, like slow cursor movement or when moving the WMP window it "stutters"

I have near 200G free space as I move any downloads to a hard-drive. I've scanned with MS security essentials to see if it wa a virus but it says it clean, anyone any ideas, it's nothing major, just annoying as sometimes even during playback it "stutters"

The laptop is 11 months old, ACER aspire 5742 running windows 7

    Thanks :)

I recommend you download "resetdma" from the net, double click resetdma icon when you get it on desktop, you will then be told your pc / laptop is restarting. You shouldnt get the stuttering after that. I had this problem before with Winamp. Let me know how you get on.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

How big is the list of music that you are playing, and is shuffle on.

Personally I find that WMP does not respond well to trying to Shuffle a playlist with 8,293 songs in it. In fact it's quite nonresponsive about it.

It's when playing movies, don't really use it for music
