    This Saturday 19th Novermber 2011!

    UFC139_poster.jpg

This card is stacked to the gills!

    MAIN CARD (ESPN - 2am)

    Shogun v Hendo
    Wandi v Cung Le
    Urijah Faber v Brian Bowles
    Martin Kampmann v Rick Story
    Stephan Bonnar v Kyle Kingsbury

Spike Prelims (Available on UFC.tv for us)

    Ryan Bader v Jason Brilz
    Michael McDonald v Alex Soto

    Facebook Prelims

    Tom Lawlor v Chris Weidman
Glieson Tibau v Rafael Dos Anjos
    Miguel Torres v Nick Pace
    Matt Brown v Seth Baczynski
    Shamar Bailey v Danny Castillo

Very very strong card on paper. When you see Tibau v Dos Anjos and Miguel Torres v Nick Pace on the undercard you know the rest of the card must be good.

Plus we have Tom Lawlor, always a clown at the weigh-ins.
He said he was going to tone it down, but I'm hoping he doesn't.

Dont think hes done anything for his last 2 fights disappointingly :(
This is still one of my favourite ringwalks :D

If the new officials that were at the Fox weight-ins are there it will be very serious from now on during them.
It was like one guy was watching the scales, another guy was watching him and there was a guy watching both of them and one more guy watching them all!!
Big country would never have weighted in with that fat suit this time round

Thats class, never seen that before. anyone know the name of the japanses fighter that used to do a dance on the way to the octogon.

I hope mayhem does one of his funny entrances against bisping, then knocks him out exactly the way Hendo did

    Genki Sudo by any chance?

    Absolute hero :D

haha, thats not it, but funny all the same, there was a guy in the ufc, came in wearing sun glasses and before he got to the ring him and his 2 corner men did a little dance routine

His last fight he was Art Jimmerson, before that he was Dan Severn, posted above. He was some old fighter I can't think if and just bleed guy before that. That's all 4 of his fights after TUF????

You're thinking of Akihiro Gono. Here's one of his Pride entrances. I can't find any good quality ones of his UFC entrances.

Nothing to do with the television network as far as I know. That stuff has to be looked after by the state athletic commision.

Keith Kizer, director of the Nevada commision gave the okay on the fat suit(which was actually garbage bags full of air).

yeah, he once came to the ring in UFC with 3 of his buddies and they were all dressed up as Diana Ross & The Supremes!

I think you might be confusing the weigh-in antics, and the entrance antics.
He's still dressed up at the weigh-in. Severn, Just bleed etc
But he stopped his dress up on the way to the cage, hulk hogan etc. I think he wanted to keep the antics at the weigh-in for a bit of fun but show that he is serious on fight night. Plus distance it from WWE type stuff

Absolute class card on paper! I want to see the Bader fight, hope it gets shown after the main event. Was it announced if the winner of Hendo/Shogun is getting a title shot against Bones/Machida? or are they waiting to see if Evans gets better first?

    I don't think anything's set in stone.

This would be my guess though. Let's presume Jones will still be Champion in Jan.

Hendo will get a shot if he wins i'd imagine (depending on Evans' condition) whether it be a decision or a stoppage.

Shogun won't be so straight forward. if he edges a decision I see no reason why he'd deserve another shot at Jones straight away. Although if he makes a big statement here he'll definitely have a case!

Should Lyoto beat Jones then anything could happen!

I gotta say, LHW is exciting at the moment with 5 top guys up there all potentially worthy of being No.1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 637 ✭✭✭pauldoo

It looks as if hendo wins, he jumps evans, if shogun wins, it will be evans

Hendo is unreal, i think everyone thought the end was near for him when he left the ufc, i watched the hendo bisping fight last night, what a moment

Ideal situation for me would be winner fights Evans, the winner of that gets a title shot. They'd all be good fights and it's nice when the contention situation is laid out so clearly. That scenario would mean either Jones takes another fight in between or has a bit of a break. He has fought a lot over the last couple of years though so maybe that wouldn't be a bad thing.

I get the impression he just wants to soldier on without a break. I also get the impression that he doesn't seem like work to him, he trains, fights, trains, fights and so on.

Also, the fact that he doesn't take any damage in fights means he can just keep moving.

I'd really like to see Rashad get a shot and soon. Not because I feel he deserves it, but so we can finally see Jones lay a really bad beating on him!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,512 ✭✭✭Oh_Noes

Yeah +1 I'm tired of Rashad and all his "special night" spoiling.

Maybe Jones will bring back the "special face" and we'll be done with it.

I got that impression too from his interviews. He's still at a stage where he's learning and constantly getting better so he wont want to stop. Plus he's just so good athletically that he can pretty much do whatever he thinks of, there was an interview with him recently where he says he looks at classic muay thai and pro wrestling for inspiration.I think he gets an enjoyment out of fighting that most other athletes cant imagine.

Henderson, Cung Le and Urijah looking favourites.

I know where my money is going anyways :)

You are right about the other two, but everyone has Henderson as the slight underdog (5/4 is the best price).

Both Bader and Brilz are coming off two losses so there's a good chance that whomever loses will be heading for the chop which is a shame as I thought Brilz should have gotten the decision over little Nog.

I don't think this is the case with bader and I hope it's not the case with Brilz but i'd say it is.

Bader is a TUF winner and was being touted as a possible No.1 contender before the Jones fight, he'll be given another shot should he lose.

I don't think I can say the same for Brilz though.

    Just bleed guy I believe.

Also, on a point above. I love the way Lawlor came in as hulk hogan against a Canadian.

This card has slid by radar in recent times. It is an awesome card, all very good fights and I love Hendo and Shogun never fought in pride aswell, which adds something extra to the event aswell.

Is the main event five rounds? And if not, what happened to all main events will be five rounds?

Weigh in results, a few odd ones in there, there were a few issues with the scales I believe.

Dan Henderson (203), Shogun Rua (205)
Wanderlei Silva (185), Cung Le (185)
Urijah Faber (136), Brian Bowles (136)
Martin Kampmann (170.5) vs. Rick Story (170.5)
Stephan Bonnar (205) vs. Kyle Kingsbury (205)
Ryan Bader (205) vs. Jason Brilz (204)
Michael McDonald (136), Alex Soto (135)
    Lawlor (185) Weidman (185.5)
Gleison Tibau (155), Rafael dos Anjos (155.5)
Miguel Torres (137), Nick Pace (141)
Matt Brown (171) vs. Seth Baczynski (171)
Shamar Bailey (158) vs. Danny Castillo (155)

Stragely, Guillard v Miller on UFC on FX in Jan will be 3 rounds.

Not really, i think it's only the Main numbered UFC events that will be 5 rounders

I really can't wait for tonights fight, been a long time since i've been so excited for a main event.

Shogun and Hendo are 2 of my favourite fighters of all time and it's gonna be real crappy to see one of them lose.

If it had been a 3 rounder i'd have gone for Hendo on Points, as it's a 5 rounder i can see Hendo winning by KO/TKO in Rounds 3 or 4

I wouldn't be too sure about Le beating Wanderlai. Wanderlai has the style to cause Le massive problems.

I think Wandy should win this one no bother, Wandy is a MASSIVE step up in class for Le, and Le hasn't fought for what, 18 months??
The last person ya wanna face with Ring Rust is The Axe Murderer

I'm favouring Le because I think Wanderlei's chin seems to be gone. Silva will probably come forward swinging and it'll depend on who gets in the cleanest hit, and I reckon this favours Le.

I can't believe I'm actually saying this but I think Wandy might win this one. We've seen 2 old timers pull one out of the fire already this year (Tito and Big Nog).. I'd love to see him KO Le and retire on the spot.

I think one of the most interesting fights on the card is the prelim between Michael McDonald and Alex Soto. McDonald must be a serious future contender at 135, he's 13-1 in his pro mma career with 2 UFC fights already under his belt and speaking of belts he has a brown one in BJJ - and he's only 20 years old :eek::eek:. Soto is taking the fight on short notice but is no slouch himself, he's undefeated 6-0-1. Look here for future stars.

Disagree with above because the ref told Bailey many times he had to defend himself.

which I thought he was doing. He wasn't hit with more than two punches and was blocking most of them I thought
