Poor broadband signal/speed in the house

Basically i've Vodafone mobile broadband. It works perfectly at my parents house but it is ridiculously slow at the house in Dublin. It will only work in the sitting room if i sit near the tv and even then 'sending request' frequently appears'. It barely works in the bedroom and kitchen! I've tried the O2 and eMobile…

It will only work in the sitting room if i sit near the tv and even then 'sending request' frequently appears'. It barely works in the bedroom and kitchen!

I've tried the O2 and eMobile modems but its the same story with them. My housemates have the same problem as me and i am wondering is there anything i can do to strengthen the signal?
