Goodbye chance of being England manager? Regardless of verdict, English FA don't usually have the bottle for any type of controversial characters.

Remember John Hartson on off the ball a few months ago? He basically said Harry never did a deal that didn't involve a bung

Apparently Harry's seen the judge and he's considering buying him.

    Sam Wallace
Redknapp in the stand. 'I always pay my tax. I'd rather pay too much than not enough.' Lunch adjournment

Redknapp stops evidence & tells Detective Insp Manley in court to stop 'staring at me'. 'I know you are trying to cause me a problem'

    This actually happened btw :pac:

    James Pearce
This is getting heated. Redknapp raising his voice as he replies to many of prosecution questions

Prosecution: "You talk about bonuses a lot". Redknapp: "Yes I do". Pros: "Maybe you're used to bonuses". R: "I am because I'm successful"

The jury have been sent out to consider their verdict.

Grauniad hack Jamie Jackson will be pleased to know the twitter ban is now lifted.

    Not guilty.

Nailed on for the England job in the Summer now anyway.

In future cases brought by HMRC, it seems all anyone has to do is plead total and utter ignorance to get off.

Literally not guilty. Top, top verdict.

Millionaires who want to evade tax do so by the million not the odd 100k, the case as put never struck me as very plausible.

Did you follow the case? The prosecution case was wafer thin, no way either of them could have been convicted.

I wasn't insinuating that Redknapp was guilty, just that it seems his defense was based on ignorance and not much else, which would surely be encouraging for anyone else brought up by HMRC in the future.

More of an observation than anything else.

Maybe the FA could still charge them, with them being above the law and all.:pac:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 946 ✭✭✭Predalien

In fairness, it wasn't pleading ignorance that got them off, the story the prosecution tried to present simply didn't add up, unfortunately the investigation into bungs in football has proved a remarkable waste of time and money. Too much time was spent trying to find a high profile scapegoat.

Odds on him being manager before the Euros? I wouldn't be so surprised.

Its remarkable really. Following the press on twitter today they are positively salivating at the thought that the new England manager is available with his track record of one FA Cup, all the while hoping and praying the man with 14 trophies is told to hop it a few months before he leaves anyway.

The man with 14 trophies hasnt exactly set the world alight has he?

Probably suicidal at the thought of Gareth Barry running after Germans at another tourney, maybe wants to avoid a disaster to the CV and get the sack. Not sure i would care either if i was him and picked up 16k in wages since i woke up this morning.

So now he doesnt really care about the job? Maybe Harry will?

He may very well love the chance. Total poison chalice, look at the last few who took it.

McLaren, Errickson, Keegan, Hoddle, Venables, Taylor.

No wonder it costs them 6mil a year to get someone to take it. Tough to get a radio job after it.
