    Big game

A few of Clermont's players playing their first game for Clermont this season

  • Some absolutely excellent Movember efforts on show too

  • Humphries receiving attention to his shoulder after 1m, Parra misses a kick that he'd usually walk.

Parra missed a straight forward enough Pen there.
IHumph picked up a knock, up on his feet again now though

Danielli struggled the first time he was tested with a high ball

EDIT Ulster won an early scrum penalty

  • Humphries looks nervous

    Try Clermont

    Clinical break

In the event of an iHumph injury, what are we likely to see?
Wallace to 10, Spence on at 12?
Would have liked Paddy Jackson to be on the bench

Yep thats the only situation no other player with 10 experience in the 23

EDIT Ulster scrum is dominant so far 2 penalties from 2 scrums

  • Ulster scrum phenomenally solid

What a terrible chant from the Ulster men.

That last penalty was dubious, looked like Afoa was pulling down rather than binding straight

What a terrible chant from the Ulster men.

Didnt hear the chant? what was it?

    Clermont have some team!!!

  • Marshall has been really really good.

    That's a devastating interception

    Ah humph!
    That pass was incredibly telegraphed

    Score?

    Score?

    Ulster 3-8 Clermont 26mins

  • 8-3 to Clermont, they've missed a few kicks and a DG faded wide too.

Ulster had a 3 v 2 overlap 10m from the line and iHumph threw the ball straight to the Clermont winger.

Marshall looks really good, haven't seen much of him though. He must have a fatal flaw in his game, as lots don't seem to like him much

    Edit: from wiki

Paul Marshall (born 26 July 1985) is an Irish rugby union footballer who was educated at Methodist College Belfast. He currently plays Scrum-half for Ulster and is a former captain of the Ulster U21 rugby team. He has also represented the Ireland U21 and Ireland A rugby teams. He was also notable the recipient of several wedgies during his high school life. These may have caused the distress that caused him to vent his anger on the rugby pitch.

  • Best having a good game. Has been in great form since the start of the WC.

Afoa is a more than suitable replacement for Botha too.

    Skrela Pen

    Ulster 3-11 Clermont 39mins

  • great restart from Humphries and Trimble forces a turnover, Clermont infringe on next breakdown and iHumph has a chance to bring them back to 11-6 for half time.

    Duly dispatched

    Silly stuff from Clermont

After going beyond a score from Ulster they hand back a penalty in fron of the posts

    Humph slots it

    Ulster 6-11 Clermont

Ulster need to cut out the mistakes. They're playing alright except every move usually ends with a wild pass to nobody or the opposition.

Nice touch found by Humph. This game is there for the taking for Ulster but there are silly errors which need eradicating

I'd have thought Gilroy would be better off on the right wing, Trimbe is equally comfortable on either wing. Whenever Gilroy gets the ball he seems to want to put the brakes on and move inside. Also he carries the ball almost exclusively in his right hand.

A Yellow Card probably has to be coming if there are many more Scrum penalties

    Hard luck Humphries

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭LeeroyJones

    46mins

Ulster pen missed right by Humphreys

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭LeeroyJones

    50mins

Ulster pen in front of the posts

    Slotted

    Ulster 9-11 Clermont

That pisses me off something terrible, seen it in the Leinster game a couple times too. Ball was out, Trimble got his hands on it but wasnt released by Clermont player on the ground. Knock on and Clermont ball ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,599 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

    Danielli off D'arcy on

  • What a kick.

    James gonna James!

I think his boots are on the wrong feet.

    Come on Ulster

Byrne knock-on on his 22. Ulster scrum down 2 points behind with 15mins on the clock

  • I hate Barnes' interpretation there. Has happened twice, the pitch is cutting up, and the scrum needed to be reset there.

The Clermont scrum has been turned around since the two props came on

Ulster are trying the same brining on Paddy Mc and Deccie Fitz
