Why do people eat bread with pasta?

Where did this come from? I can't understand it. I find pasta and bread very stodgy and don't know why you would want to eat them together. Surely not even an athlete would need that many carbs in one meal? Whatever happened to a nice big pile of vegetables?

Well depending on the meal you'll sometimes have a load of sauce left over after the pasta is gone so bread makes sense for soaking it up. It's unhealthy but tasty.

Garlic bread and a steaming hot lasagna? You can't possibly say you never have .... ;)

    Because they like it?

    Because it's bloody awesome.

Most of my favourite bad things to eat involve carbs on top of carbs. Chipp butty, crisp sandwich, rice salad wrap. When I was in school I used to have one of those mini-pizzas between two slices of bread

I rarely, if ever eat these any more, but I can still remember how awesome they taste.

Would you understand if people wanted to eat more than one type of vegetable? its pretty much the same idea to me, a bit of variety.

If I was having bread & pasta with same meal I would be eating less of each than if I had just one -I expect most would. Just like if I get a "house special" from a Chinese I get a smaller individual amounts of chicken/beef/prawns.

It tastes nice for lots of people. Nothing to stop you having pasta, brad and the pile of vegetables.

Irish people will put anything in a sandwich. I've see people put Irish stew, spaghetti bolognaise and roast dinners in two slices of bread and eat it.

Bread is addictive and has a lovely sedating effect on lots of people. So when people are going down the 'f*ck it' route, they think as well to die for a sheep as for a lamb.

For me, pasta in bread is stomach suicide, Maybe if I had a metric tonne of indigestion tablets and painkillers I'd try it. :D

I once ate a stuffing sandwich.

    It was tasty.

Then of your course you have got the chip buttie, not to mention a crisp sandwich - Honky Dorys work well, even Tayto!
