I have to do one with Musgrave's as well.

From what I've gathered, there won't be anyone on the other side of the screen. You will be on webcam and there will be a question on the side which you have to answer. I may be wrong but thats what I've gathered from the email they sent.

I'm going to have to do it in my room and I have a lot of Man Utd stuff there, so if the person looking at the vidoes is a Liverpool fan, I am screwed haha

Advice from someone who has been though this before would be handy.

Seems to be kind of like a normal interview only automated.

Gonna be kind of disconcerting talking to a computer while been interviewed. Suppose it cuts down on their costs.

They do give you a few tips so gonna check that. Im doing a Movember at the moment so hopefully I'll get the chance to explain why I look utterly ridiculous!

Yeah its going to be very weird just talking to yourself. Question on side of screen and myself on the webcam. The again this could be fun :D

I did the practice tests yesterday. It was really weird talking to the computer. I would honestly prefer a face-to-face interview. My background even includes a coat rack and a tumbledryer! And I can't get rid of the glare on my glasses, I've tried everything.

Just finished mine a half hour ago. It was very uncomfortable and some of the questions that came up, I hadn't prepared for. I thought it didn't go well at all but then again, its not up to me to decide that

I thought the exact same. Two of the questions were very similar. Looks like I can kiss goodbye to the Musgraves graduate programme:(

    The two last ones?

We have to remain positive. I feel that it didn't go well and from your response, I can see that you feel the same, but its not really up to us to decide if we did well or not, its up to Musgraves.

There are plenty more graduate programmes to apply to if this one doesn't work out. Thats the way I see it. You CV got you this far, plenty more interviews to be done for graduate programmes this year, I can guarantee it :)

    The two last ones?

Yeah those two were terrible. I didn't even require the full 2 minutes for the first one so the last one came as an unwelcomed surprise.

Fingers crossed that by some miracle I'll get through to the next round.

    Best of luck to you!!!

Did the online test on the 3rd November and got an email back inviting me to take the online interview on the 8th

Guess I didn't get as far as the interview stage then!
    Thanks for the reply!

Did you get an email from them saying that you haven't made it to the video interview stage?

A few of my mates applied and didn't receive an email at all. I would have thought that they would have sent an email letting you know what the story is, whether you get past that phase or not

Has anyone heard from Musgraves since the video interview?

I know I won't be progressed to the next round but still the wait is killing me!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 282 ✭✭manutd4life

No I haven't. Like you, I don't expect to progress.

I log on to my email account and see 1 new message. Getting my hopes up thinking its Musgraves. ****in LinkedIn updates :(

No I Haven't heard anything since I did the online tests apart from the thank you email saying they'd be in contact in a few weeks.... but if others have had interviews and I haven't heard yet then I'm starting to lose hope for it

I'm telling myself that maybe they are holding the interviews in batches and i'll be in the next one :o

If I hadn't read this thread yet I probably wouldn't be worried as the email said in the coming weeks....

Ugh waiting is the worst part

Been a year since I did it but heres what I remember...

    About 4 or 5 questions...

Your given like a minute to read a question that will appear on screen...then after the minute you hit record and have the chance to give your answer for a minute...

When the minute is up you move onto the next question

Just to warn you Im not 100% sure if its a minite, could be 10 seconds, honestly just cant remember!!

Questions themselves...again not entirely sure but there along the lines of why musgraves, why retail....i think that the 2nd last and last question are quite similair...

To be honest I reckon they just want to see that you look normal and can answer some basic questions!

I thought I did terrible but got through to the assesment day!

Main advice would be to practice in the mirror (very awkward but has to be done ha!), do the practice interviews, dress in business gear shirt tie etc... have a clear background and make sure your mother wont be walking in telling you the dinners ready! Oh and dont do it on a swivel chair because half way through mine I realised I had been swinging on it out of nervousness!

    Best of luck!

    Hi guys,

Can someone who has experienced the Musgrave assessment centre please highlight what it entails. I know it involves a group exercise, individual task which includes a presentation and an interview but I am a bit concerned about the interview. Apart from experiences listed on your CV, do they ask anything perhaps industry related or any other commercial awareness question?

Any help on any aspect of the day would be highly appreciated as soon as possible. Thanks.

    Hi,

From what I remember there is actually 2 interviews on the day.

The first interview is with two maangers who specifically work on whatever area you applied too. i.e. if you applied to trading it will be 2 managers from Trading (my 2 were from the UK, both sound).
This interview is more like a chat to get to know you and why you really want to work for this department and what you can bring to it so my advice would be to know why you want it more than anyone else, what you have that they dont and know the industry as much as you can, shows a real interest.

The second inteview then is with HR. Much more generic interview which is competency based. Tell me about a time you showed leadership, etc...

    Hope that answers your question!

Hi, thanks so much for your input just before my assessment centre. They did state that we do not have to prepare anything beforehand and it turned out that we didn't as it was just one interview which was purely competency based.

But it was better to be over prepared than not prepared at all so thanks for steering me in the right direction in terms of my preparation.
