Bruised Ribs / Gym Injury

Hi - Not looking for medical advice, just other people's experiences.

Injured myself last week in the gym, was in a Boot Camp class where we were running into those boxing kick pad thingys with our shoulder and my elbow bounced of my ribs quite hard.

Anyway, I now have serious pain in my rib area, I'm guessing the ribs are just bruised.

It's really sore when I'm not active, lazing about etc but it doesn't seem as bad when I'm active.

I was out the weekend and had no problem dancing the whole night (alcohol might have helped)

Should i just rest and let it heal itself (Dr. said it might take up to 2 months) or am I doing more damage going out to the gym if I avoid any more knocks to that area

I don't think it was a serious knock, just elbow crashed of them on the rebound.

I'm only on painkillers and they're not doing much use.

Sounds like you're asking for advice to me. Only a doctor/physio/a professional who has examined you will be able to advise you on what you can and cannot do, what has happened, and how long it will take to heal.
