Old Evinrude identification help needed

I have a 1969 Evinrude 4 HP model 49B6B that is a family heirloom.





I know that this was a European specific model (and features an AMAL carb) but because of this I cannot seem to find a service/parts manual, and cannot order parts because only the US model numbers are used by the Evinrude dealers.
Does anyone else have one of these, and have you been able to order parts reliably?
As always, any thoughts gratefully received.

Most of the parts should be the same as these,I think yours may be Belgium and if you can't find what your looking for give me the part number and I'll have a look

Thanks Fergal. Are you sure that the 4906 (American) model is the same powerhead as this 49B6B?
The three US 4HP models (4906B, 4902B, 4936B) are definitely sharing most of their parts, but I'm wondering if the powerhead on my unit dates from a earlier time. The top mounted recoil is of the Simplex (or Johnson "eas-a-matic") variety and the AMAL carb never appeared in the US as far as I can tell.
Also, does anyone have an exploded diagram of this carb? I haven't removed it yet, but couldn't see any model number on it at all.
I'll give AMAL a call in the UK tomorrow, but I just thought someone here may have dealt with this one before.

I'm not a 100% sure of anything You would have to get the block casting number to know if they are the same but I don't think they would have changed every thing, no matter what, if you want to restore it back to a working engine it can be done, it may cost you more than a good second hand engine but as it has some history for you it may be worth it.

Shame it's not a merc,

I'll see if there's a casting number in evidence. The core plug is stamped with the 49B6B model number.
It's got a sentimental value that's far in excess of it's worth so it'll have to be put right. The put-put-putting of this very engine formed the soundtrack to some of my earliest memories, and a reminder of dear friends no longer fishing in this world.
