Game of the Week: Arkanoid

Released in 1986 by Taito this breakout clone takes the genre to a new level.
You Mothership gets blown to bits and your Vaus gets ripped into a void.Quite simple enough really:D
On the surface this is just another bat and ball game but with many different power ups and lots of different level designs this is a game that will keep you busy for quite a while.
Other then Boulder Dash this was one of my Favourite games on the C64 and Arkanoid has found its way onto many other platforms most recently on the Xbox360
Well worth playing and im sure most of you will be shocked at my choice for game of the week
Cant post vids as i am in college but i am sure most of you remember this Classic.5

Was Arkanoid made by the fella that made Uridium?
I wouldn't consider myself the worlds best gamer or anything but my god is that game hard! Each element of it is simple but the combination is so so unforgiving. I'm playing on emulator atm and I've probably used up dozens of lives just to get to level 12 so far. The idea of someone getting thru it all in 3 is impressive!

It would help if other people would do the random thing every friday, I ended up doing it myself and when booze, drugs and women got in the way it got forgotten about. Nothing stopping people running it in the randomiser right now. At the moment I'm too busy doing drugs, Xenoblade is that addictive.

Well how are the games picked. Also we are forgetting another important thing, who will organise it. I got sick of doing it because it was pretty much only me doing the last one.
Think we could do well to take a look at the game club hardcore gaming 101 are running. Loads of games are put into a hat and one i picked a month and lots of people play it and talk about it. Still there's a much bigger user base over there so it works.

Well we can always just see how it goes. I would however suggest trimming the uninteresting crap from the list, not the crap just the sports games that nobody really wants to play and adding some more interesting japanese exclusives that are playable in english and completely missing from the list.
