A question about Sauces when bulking up.

I've been on my bulk up diet for over a month now and have been pretty good sticking to it.The main thing i'm having an issue with is the blandness of the food.

Breakfast and small meals im not pushed about but when im having dinner i'd like a bit of flavour.

Basically the jist of it is basmati rice/wholegrain pasta,fish/chicken/turkey,green veg.

I like to eat foods such as indian & italian which are rich in flavour and incoroporate a lot of flavour and sauces.
I'm aware that sauces can have an effect on my blood sugar and i've been doing a lot of reading into it with fat storage/insulin levels etc but still cant bring myself to the conclusion of what i need to avoid adding to my meals to keep it as beneficial as possible on the bulk up.I know i probably should avoid them but im looking to see if there is anything out there.

Basically my question to anyone in the know is what can I add to my meals which might make them more enticing and what should I avoid.

    Thanks in advance.

    D.:pac:

Tabasco is an easy add. Lots of kick, no added calories.

You can make your own sauces with herbs and spices, particularly curry spices, and make a sauce to suit your diet. Curry spices or paste and coconut milk, for instance, would be good.

Chuck a big handful of paprika into a stew to turn it into goulash.

You can make very quick and easy (and delicious) Indian sauces if you have a blender/ food processor. Just chuck in some fresh tomatoes (or tinned if you prefer) with some fresh peeled ginger and some garlic cloves. Blend it all up and leave it for a minute.

Chop up an onion or two and saute it gently until soft - add it into the blender and mix until smooth. All you have to do now is put some spices in the frying pan (cumin, chilli, coriander powder, whatever flavours you like) and cook them 1 - 2 mins then add in the blended mixture. Add salt and pepper to taste and you can eat with chicken, beef etc. Really easy and nutritious way to have a gorgeous sauce with dinner.

    franks hot sauce!

  • chilli flakes on next to everything, paprika and cayenne with lime juice as a marinade for meats too.

Use limes and lemons to change the flavour of things, they're ideal for it.

Ketchup over scrambled eggs to get over the blandness!

Franks is grand but i prefer Nando's extra hot :D

Im trying to keep a healthy high calorie diet to raise my bodyweight but trying to keep the blood sugar from spiking too high as its not beneficial from what i gather.Better to keep it at a moderate level.Im assuming rich sauces such as Ketchups and Kormas will bring this to an undesirable level so trying to avoid these but looking for a healthy way, like some sort of tomato sauce.I dont think people are getting the point behind this thread. If ye are, and know the story with the effects it will have on my bulk diet then let me know in the posts thanks:D

You want high calorie foods with a low gi, so I'd avoid the tomato sauces (unless made with proper tomatoes) and go for things like coconut cream bases.
